Yeah, the ADE one I went to this past October blew all my expectations for any party from now on. I'm a bit skeptical about this NYC party though. First, NY seems to have constant issues with permitting or dumbass politicians getting things cancelled or moved.
I don't know what venue they are planning on using yet, but I hope they have learned from Time Warps mistake of the past few years (DON'T BOOK A VENUE IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA!). Yes the Pier was absolutely great, but it also isn't great to pre-book a hotel and plan out your vacation only for it all to get changed a week away. The lineup I hope will be mindblowing, I don't think I've ever seen an Awakenings lineup where I wasn't drooling, so that may be a non issue. Gonna be one day so I hope it is an extended event, think the last Awakenings event this past ADE went from 6:00PM to 6:00AM.
Whether I go depends on venue and lineup, after all I am heading to sunny Miami almost a month later.

Come down for this Tomas! I for one just booked my non-stop flight to EWR. Totally in for this. I understand there might be some hiccups with venue, but that's fine. It's cool in its own right to be at an inaugural edition of an event. And if the thing goes off without a hitch, with an incredible lineup, then it's even better.
As for the lineup, I just want to see Rodhad. His sound is absolutely perfect for the Awakenings/Time Warp style events. Also would like to see Nina Kraviz (in an opening/early slot -- she's perfect for this), Marcel Fengler, Silent Servant, and Luke Slater. I hope the lineup leans more towards the techno side of things rather than the tech-house sound, especially for the meat of the set-times. To be honest, the Time Warp NYC lineup seemed like it was "catering to the masses" with its many-varieties approach. When you think Awakenings and Time Warp, you think big-room, dark, brooding techno. That's what they should stick with, for the most part, if you ask me.

The guy I think of when I think of Awakenings is Adam Beyer. He's got to have headlined more Awakenings parties than anyone else. Would definitely not be sad if he was playing this party.
Then again it'd be cool if Awakenings didn't rely solely on the big names for this one...so many other opportunities to see those monster names. Would prefer if they looked to book "smaller" names and go the route of expertly curating the night instead of just booking guys like Cox, Hawtin, Beyer, Dice, etc.

I might, just depends on lineup and venue really. As for the lineup, it will probably be dumbed down for US audiences. Felt like Time Warp was that way this year, Ricardo was ok. Got annoyed when he started slowing and stopping over and over while waving vinyl around, guess he was trying to do his own Armin pose.
My general thought on Ricardo is that they used him to push ticket sales since the guy hadn't done a show in the US in years. I really do think that it will be a drumcode heavy lineup, Adam and Ida come to mind. The production also needs to be on par with their European counterparts. Time Warp was nice but the cave was just military netting with some lights. Stage 2 on the otherhand had, wait for it, FUCKING LASERS! Minimal stage design but it really worked a hell of a lot better than the main stage. If Awakenings doesn't do lasers, fireworks, big time production it won't be worth it. I'd rather just go back to Amsterdam this year. My total flight and stay was under $900 not including food and partying but man was that vacation cheap as fuck.

i hope its 3 days |
Sadly, it's only one. That Sunday before Presidents day is the only confirmed date. Which doesn't bode well for production as good production won't be wasted on a one day event (in my experience at least). Seeing as its one day it better be a hell of a long party talking 6PM-6AM. No pussyfooting, but meh its an Americanized version.
