King I gave up drinking ...

beer yesterday and started drinking wine instead.

It pairs well with my addiction to hummus. I was working on a cab last night. Can't wait to get back at it again when I get home from work

Have you tried adding olives and cheese into the mix? Fish goes great with wine, as well. And chocolate.

Cheese is a natural, I'm more inclined to pair olives with mixed drinks (maybe white wine), chocolate just seems like bad coordination.

My girlfriend is a sommelier, so all I hear about is wine. Now I know what it must feel like when people who don't care about music have to listen to me.

I must admit, though, I've learned that wine is actually great. It's the only type of alcohol I actually enjoy drinking and tasting, rather than just throwing down my neck to get myself fucked up.

Chocolate is a terrible pairing with wine, though. Anything sweet ruins the taste of wine immediately. There's a reason dessert wine exists.

Chocolate/desert is optional, really. I usually only have it if I'm already somewhat hammered and still hungry.

I don't know what you mean by "dessert wine," but if I'm having something sweet, it doesn't go down bad with dry, red wine. I suppose if you're into sweet or white wine (which is usually sweet), then I definitely don't see adding sweets into the mix a preferable choice.

I don't know what things taste like in your mouth, but dry red with anything sweet is a cardinal sin (pun unintended, but gladly retained). It immediately ruins the taste of the wine. I have to thoroughly rinse my palate if I'm following chocolate with wine, otherwise I might as well tip the glass down the sink and proceed straight to swilling battery acid.

This is not me being a wine snob, because I freely admit my palate is poorly developed, but just bitter experience. And emphasis on the "bitter".

Well, like I said - the sweets are only considered once I'm already somewhat hammered and still hungry. At that point, I'm no longer drinking the wine so much for the taste.

When I was younger, I'd drink wine mainly for the taste, but now it's often an accompaniment to a pleasant meal. I don't really drink nowadays just for the sake of drinking or tasting. That'll probably change if I start feeling better.

Yeah, as I said, I don't do sweet wine. Never been my thang. I did enjoy white wine a few times, I think it was either with fish or with steak. Otherwise, I only do dry red, nowadays.

I'm mostly a wine drinker these days too, though I do like a good beer now and then. For most of the year I tend to drink white wine, because it's so fucking hot here and I just want a cold refreshing drink. More reds in the winter time though. Gimme dat Shiraz.

How in your right mind do you give up beer altogether?

Is this question directed at me? I said I enjoy a beer now and then.

Yeah, I've mostly gone over to wines too. The only downside to it is that they tend to give me splitting headaches.

Totally worth it, though.
