You're kiddin', right? Okay, maybe not, so I'll humor you. "Dog" is merely an expression just like "dude", "man", "mate", "comrade", whatever. It's not derogatory, nor is it really complimentary. It's just an expression.
| quote: | | I always thought that when they talked about the 'dog' they meant that coach service/company the Greyhound or something??? |
That's too funny. I'm not laughing at your expense, though. Just a funny interpretation.
| quote: | | I'd like to know what trailer trash is. |
A lot of the caucasion lower class income families live in trailer homes here, which are conveniently located in small lots called, you guessed it, trailer parks. There's a stigma for living in such areas, due to things like lack of intelligence, inbreeding (that's pretty extreme, but not too unusual), etc. It's a stereotype for idiocy. Not always true, mind you, because I've had a couple of close friends come from trailer homes, and they are doing quite well now. But I think you get the picture.
Please keep your tv viewing to Jerry Springer as limited as possible. At least don't think that it's a good representation of American views. It's a shock value show, similar to say, Marilyn Manson being a shock value singer. It's entertainment in the worst way, and it grows quite old after a while (for me it took 10 min.).
