Finally finished this little experiment...Thought it was interesting and worth sharing.



Pretty obvious that mood affects how we write music, but I wanted to get some snapshots on which moods I felt I wrote best in, so I put aside a classical piece to work on when I was in a certain mood.

The rules were : I would start writing in a mood, and once I ran out of gas I would stop and not touch it again until I had forgotten about the song, and the next mood struck while I was feeling musically inclined. I also only allowed myself to listen to the previous 8 bars so I could transition...So it will probably sound a bit disjointed..

Been awhile since the mood "happy" has hit while feeling musically motivated, so it took awhile to finally finish this...

I ended up putting happy at the beginning because it just sounded bizarre otherwise...so it goes, Happy -> Angry [repeat] -> Depressed as fuck. Sorta...like the title.

I think the piece sounded the most interesting when I was pissed off, and I ended up writing a fair bit more during that mood...

Also think my songwriting is cheesy as fuck when I'm in a good mood, and should refrain from writing during that time...

What moods you find yourselves writing your best works in? Is it coincidence creativity usually sparks during those moods?
