England's fire brigade strikes

As we enter the first few hours of the first 2 day fire brigade strike in the UK for 25 years, i ask myself why is this country so fucked up.
Only in england would the endless wars between the government and workers unions put peoples lives at risk, especially throughout heightened security amidst possible terrorist attacks.
God damn, they are essential to society and deserve a pay rise bearing in mind the everyday risks and dangers of their profession.
Sort it out
Has or would this happen in any other country?

ok mayb 40% is too much, but i don't see why 15% is too much, they save peoples lives everyday, they serve the counrty well and don't get paid enough, i say they come to an agreement of somet sort either way the goverment has 2 agree but not to anything over 25% cause as elevate said it will mean stupid tax increases

Aye I don't fucking trust them green goddess things they might aswell use push bikes with super soakers instead of them things. Mind you UK is where it always happens, firemen, Cops (as much as we hate them), Nurses and Doctors cry out for better wages, all the fucking tosspot blair is bothered about is letting in another 1 million asyulum seekers costing us tax payers about 3 Billion a year odd, then theres the Teachers sorry if u are a teacher btw, but as far as I'm concerned their useless overpaid whining tossers, who get 12 weeks holiday a year, get paid more then thoses who risk their lives on the streets and in hospitals, fair enough if someone teached in a rough school yes they deserve better wages but for fuck sake, firefighters put their life on the line every day.

Average firefighter wage in the UK = £21,500 a year
Average basic wage for a Premiership footballer over 20 = £409,000 a year

I think just that shows how little we respect the people that put their lives on the line for us every day.

then again with football players they generate these revenues from people willing tp pay to watch them, where as everyone is too stubborn to pay their taxes to fund the fireman.

hence the salary difference. life a bitch but thats the way it goes.

Although I do agree to a certain extent that they do deserve a pay rise, at the end of the day they are only trained manual workers.

In my area, firefighters aren't called out very frequently. Most of the time they are not working... £30,000 for someone who isn't working all the time is a bit much, in my opinion. There are many unemployed people in this country that would take up this job for £20,000 a year... People working in the NHS are working all the time, and I feel they are not getting paid enough for the work that they do...

Just because firefighters are in a position of importance, it doesn't give them the right to hold the country to ransom.

If they are successful in their strike action, what is to stop others doing the same? Doctors, Paramedics, Police.....?

yeah I heard about that on the radio, it happened 1 hour after the strike began apparently I saw one of those Green godesses that they're using now instead of the normal fire engines. I don't understand why they can't use the normal fire engines seeing as they're Government property anyway..

The granny that died would have died anyway sadly, the Army got there in 6 minutes since the call, same as the normal fire service and they was backed up by the fire fighters.

So far all over the UK in every major incident, the regular fire service have broken their strike to help out as to ensure minimum loss of life.

The army can not use the normal fire trucks simply cos they dont know how to, it takes on average 6 weeks to be trained on a normal fire truck.

The biggest problem with this situation is all the idiots making hoax calls, hoax calls were up by 300% last night, idiots starting fires on purpose too, its those pratts that are causing the danger to life, not the firefighters by striking.
