the ultimate & final supersaw thread! (gather all supersaw discussions in here)
Okay I can see 3 different threads just on the frontpage of this forumsection right now that handles the subject of the supersaw sound in different forms. And if that wasn't enough at least one new thread about the subject pops up everyday and the new guys on the board get's flamed and so on.
So...I thought that a subject that's so discussed deserved it's own thread so we can gather all the info in here instead of spreading it over like 20 threads/week.
So post all your questions, answers and all the info you can come up with that has to do with the supersaw sound
So first off, what is a supersaw, it's basicly 7 detuned saw waveforms. The original supersaw is created with the jp8000 and/or the jp8080 synth created by Roland.
Sound on Sound described the supersaw short but quite clearly in their review of the JP8080...
quote:
The JP8080 is a 10-note polyphonic, two-oscillator
synth — giving it two more notes of polyphony that
the JP8000. Both oscillators have the option of
sawtooth, square, triangle and noise waveforms
(the JP8000’s noise waveform was available only on
oscillator 1), but oscillator 1 takes things a step or
two further, with its ‘Super Saw’ emulating seven
detuned sawtooth waves, and monophonic
‘feedback’ waveform.
Can't get clearer than that
To give examples of how the supersaw sounds, just listen to classics like Rank 1 - Airwave or Cygnus X - Superstrings (Rank 1 remix)
so now it's your turn, ask questions if your'e new to this subject or just feel free to post any info that I forgot to write here about this o so hated and overused waveform

Hooray, another supersaw thread!!
Can we have a supersine one too?
No, obviously its a good thing, but can we sticky these please?
There a new one every week asking the exact same questions. Maybe Vizay wants to go and collect all the posts from previous ones and put them in here or something

^ hey cock bag how about writing something more helpful maybe?
No it's not a 3xOSC preset, I did a few quick tweaks (with no fx added btw), and I put it up here so someone may help me on it... is that idea too complicated for you? Because it's hard to get something over your head if it's so far shoved up your ass.

I don't want a flame war either.
I'm just looking for anything helpful, and all I get is this smartass remark.
Hopefully this should be the last time I post something derogetory in this thread.

yeah, lets all produce the same sound all over again, and again, and again, and again again..
pherhaps we could share some already made riffs and bass to go along, and YES, maybe some percussion loops while we are at it..
but still it is the most used sound and everyday a new thread with questions about it pops up, if you doon't want to use the sound then don't. I myself doesn't use it because I think it's way to overused but I still think it's better to gather all info about it in one thread instead of 25...get it?
so please if you don't have anything usefull or constructive to say just keep it to yourself, mkay?
