John 00 Fleming - White Label Euphoria Level 2 (Remake)

Just seen this on the Discogs page and never heard this one, the first was a good mix comp in its day. Available to download.

JOOF Sessions 007. Euphoria White label level 2 remake. It’s frightening to think we’re now into the seventh week of this world situation, at the very start of my new venture into streaming I made some technical errors meaning that the first JOOF Sessions was broadcast in mono and why it was never saved. This triggered a memory of my mix compilation Euphoria While label level 2 released in 2003, the mastering engineer made a huge mistake and CD1 and the final press was in mono and not realised until it was released. The label went bankrupt years ago, so impossible to get any repressed and its something that’s stayed with me all these years. 17 years later I want to bring this back to life in stereo as it was always intended. Thought I could mix the album again in my studio and post on socials, I thought it would be more fun that we do this live together so that we can all witness the rebirth of this iconic album. This time around however, it won’t be two separate mixes CD1 & 2, for the first time I’ll mix it all together as one seamless mix.

you might be quite right... the guy who mastered/engineered DJ Tiësto - Revolution (Dave Turner) worked on some Euphoria/Telstar TV releases also...

GENUINE. UNIQUE. VARIETY.

Now everything sounds so half assed and follows a certain formula...feels like you're listening to the same track over and over.

You hear some weird stories like that. Apparently Terry Francis' seminal Architecture mix CD was accidentally sped up while mastering so it came out at 135bpm, when some of the tunes on it were originally at 125bpm.

Yeah I get mistakes are made and accidents happen, just blows my mind these kind of flaws get past QC. The key aspect of any mastering engineer's job. Just wow!

Deadlines. The mortal enemy of quality control.

This is a great CD that I often enjoy coming back to, nearly always something new sticks out that I'd previously glossed over. This time it was Castor & Pollux - Serenity (J F Sebastian Remix).

I had thought that the original CD only used the ambient intro of Universal Soul, then into the slow-burn build-up of Phutures, so I wasn't keen on this remake leading with the full club mix of Universal Soul. But I'm wrong, it's just a heavily edited (or different demo) version of Universal Soul and an unconventional mix into Phutures on the CD.

Nice to get Timegate in full and mixing straight into CD2 worked fine. Glad he was still faithful to the bpms and even though it ends at 143 it still maintains a progressive feel, not full-on and exhausting.

Another minor mistake on the CD is that there's no "JOOF Intro/Outro"s, are there? They're just the beginning/end of the first and final tracks.

Agree, great CD. Always been a big JOOF fan, arguably the most consistent trance/prog DJ of all time.
Out of interest, have you just released a record yourself on Solarstone's label?
