Syntonic - Progressive Sessions [Modern/00’s Prog]

I picked up a Traktor DJ controller this past summer but I’m still new to it and I rarely find time to mix. I managed to record this about a couple months ago after getting all my track collection set up and just dove right in. I was aiming for two hours but I had to cut it short.

I mostly played tracks within the last 5 years or so and put in some oldies in at the end. This is my first crack at using the controller and it’s not perfect but would appreciate any kind of feedback.

Downloads are enabled and I intend to post a track list soon.

Thanks for looking : )

Tracklist:

01. Dustin Nantais - Deeper Horizons (Paul Matthews Remix) [Dispute Records]

02. Frosun - Endless Road (Namatjira Remix) [Massive Harmony Records]

03. Deepfunk - Secret Souls (Petar Dundov Remix) [SIXTYSEVENSUNS]

04. Marvin & Guy - Superior Conjunction (Instrumental) [Life And Death]

05. Naz & Bob Zopp - A Morte (Original Mix) [Lowbit]

06. Nichols (UK) - Timeslide [Juicebox Music]

07. Arnim - Cloudbase (Van Bellen Remix) [Crossfade Sounds]

08. Andre Hommen - Abakus [Vivrant]

09. Soundproof - Wiser (Andreas Bender Tribal Dub) [Promo]

10. JF Sebastian feat. Kaz - Heaven Is Here [Basic Energy]

11. Kid Vicious - Contagious (Lemon 8 Remix) [Tsunami Special Blend]

this would pass as a professional compilation mix. JF Sebastian feat. Kaz - Heaven Is Here is groovy as hell.

What controller did you get?

I quite liked this set, very nice. My only technical feedback is that I thought you brought in the highs too quickly a few times, but that's pretty minor.

Good stuff, hope you'll have more time to mix in the future

Thanks for the comment, much appreciated. Have you been planning to do some classic Progressive mixes at all? And yeah, that JF Sebastian tracks is pretty groovy prog. That was one of my favorites to use on this mix.

Traktor S2 MK3

I was originally going to get a Pioneer DDJ-SB3 but to unlock all the features/buttons/pro version software, you have to pay an extra $129, which I thought was pretty lame. With the Traktor, everything is just standard and for $350 it's decent hardware.

Also, thanks for listening and the feedback. I do recall a few times I cut off the highs a bit early, making it sort of flat. I also intend to give you mixes a go sometime. You definitely have built a nice Progressive collection.

How exactly did you mix the vinyl rips? I've been thinking about using Ableton to quantize vinyl rips? I would really like to do a Progressive Trance mix using Christian West - Eterna (Main Mix).
