Monitors for my Sound System

I am looking to purchase a pair of powered studio monitors for my home sound system. I am running a RANE MP 2016 mixer with EQ, Pioneer efx 500, roland boss 303 sampler. Does anyone know of a good, solid brand of powered monitors that will not break that bank
and give me great sound? Thanks

I still like to have it rocking. Keep in mind what this music is made for, first of all. Its not made to be easy listening on the radio. Its not made to be easy listening in television. Its actually kick ass in the club. This is what music is. This is the purpose of this art form...to listen to it and let the frequencies actually blow you away. --Paul Van Dyk

Invisible Grin Funny you should ask

Actually I have a similar set up

3 Techs
1 Rane mp 2016 w/eqs

Gotta love that Rane

but anyway I bought some powered studio monitors because I wanted a flat response and since the Rane has such a good sound I didn't want it colored by consumer type speakers. Also didn't want a separate amp.

Any way I got discouraged by the price of good studio monitors.

I didn't want a dinky little shite...I liked the way the Genelecs sounded and I liked the size of the mackies. But $1200 bucks forget about it.

So I found Behringer Truth monitors $349.99 pair. Look exactly like the Mackies (I think they are knockoffs) but they sound GREAT!!!

75 watt built-in amp for highs / 150 watt for the lows...XLR inputs and everything in the back to tune your room.

That was a year ago and I haven't had any problems with them. They ROCK!!! Still sound great too.

Peace

Thanks brother! I love the RANE! Only mixer I ever wanted, so I spent the $$. Never go back to sliders. As for the Mackies, I have been eyeing them for months, just can't drop the money. I will check out those Behringers. Thanks for the tip

P.S. I see you are frrom Washington, do you know a kid that goes by the name Patrick Justice? Met him at Twilo few years ago, and we bumped into each other at Roxy fro PVD. Pretty good DJ. Just checkin

i have the truths myself too. only thing i can complain about is the bass output as it only has a frequency response down to 50 Hz. BUT that is the case with most monitors anyway. soo, if u want the rumble as well as the 'oomph'....get some subs. but clarity, quality, and power-wise...the truths do a damn good job.

Well, are you all even *going* to stores and demoing near-field capable active monitors? There are ones that are "all in one" enough to provide a full 20 - 20k... two satts and a sub... kinda like the dinky multimedia setups, except real full range studio monitors don't suck.

I mean, a simple google search "near field active full range studio monitor" brought up some WONDERFUL gems...
