I cant recall any good threads on aliens/intelligent life (someone point me to them if theyre are any). Anyone else see Taken on the sci fi channel tonight? Definately worth checking out, theyre replaying it like 10000x times. Episode 2 comes on tomorrow night.

Anyways, I definately believe in other intelligent life floating around out there somewhere. I think they have visited us too, though I think most abduction specials and things you see on tv are entertainment. I read that what most abductees experience are telltale signs of a certain sleep condition (bright light, parayilzation, ect) in which your body is asleep, and your mind is half consious, floating away in its own dreams. If the stories are true, theres no real difference than what we humans do, go into the bush, shoot an animal in the ass with a dart, take it in while its knocked out, tag it, release it, and study it.

I also think the whole "evil alien" thing is absurd. Whatever our tiny rock could possibly provide them (resources, slave labor, water) they can get in huge abundence elsewhere (random asteroids, humanoid robots, ice in space).

What are everyone elses thoughts?

There probably is. People who say no can't prove it, people who say yes can't prove it either. Since we know so little about our galaxy, we can't make assumptions about something we dont know about. So who knows!

they exist, many many many of them, but we are too infinitesimal and too isolated to be visited.

I reckon the universe is so big there must be billions of planets with life on, and chances are that at least some of this life has evolved to be as intelligent as ourselves (if not more). I think it's a bit arrogent to assume we're the smartest that exist.

You never know, maybe somewhere there's a planet where more than one species has evolved to be intelligent. Even here you get animals like dolphins which have been proved to be a lot more intelligent than was once thought.
