Typically, banks pay under 1.8% interest:
$10 * (1.018 ^ 500) ~ $75,000 (slightly under)
This is billions... how? Someone didn't pass economics. Sure, I wouldn't mind $75k right now, but in 500 years that'll be worthless.
That's not taking into account the more subtle question of time travel: if it were truly possible to travel from OUR future to OUR present, then it would already have happened, and the fact that we haven't seen any time travellers means either (a) time travel will never be possible in a linear sense - i.e. maybe we'll be able to travel to "a" past but not "our" past, or (b) time travellers have some rule preventing them from screwing around with the past, which means you'll never get to see that money anyway.
Bottom line here is, well, the bottom line. Creator of site wants to make money, and has decided to scam gullible people who don't intuitively understand economics.
Besides, think about it, if the person who came up with this idea seriously intended to pay people back in 500 years, he surely would have mentioned something about taking a cut of your future "billions" (thousands), otherwise what would be in it for him? The simplest answer is usually the best: scam.
