Behringer Dx1000

What's the deal with this mixer. I've heard many different things about it. The price looks really great. What about the sound quality? Build and durability? General feel? Anyone who has had experience with this mixer I'd like to hear what you have to say about it.

I own a couple of DX1000's

I would say it gives you mad options.

it's big though but solid build good components. The power supply is outboard and it's pretty industrial. Channel faders are sturdy and smooth. Eq's aren't bad but I would like full cut and bigger knobs.

The sound quality is professional unlike other low end behringer mixers.

The price is good too. I got em brand new for $159 at www.musiciansfriend.com

It's made to mix with the channel faders the cross fader is got a funny curve to it so I don't ever use it.

If you have 3 turntables and 2 cd players and maybe a mic set up and some outboard effex processors it's the best mixer for the money. You can hook up everything you need to it.

Another cool feature is the talk over mic button with sensitivity control. You will never ever get feed back on this mixer.

I'm only deal with 2 TT's right now and thinking about getting a cd-deck sometime in the future. I do alot of other shit with like keyboards and guitars and stuff that I could run this this fucking around, but basically my decision hinges between this and a Vestax PMC05 ProII. I figure if this has 3 band and kills, and all those extra features, and is cheaper.... might as well go for it?

How does the monitoring and headphone control work?

dx1000 headphone monitoring

Basically you press any of the red buttons above the channel faders to listen...they are labeled PFL also the Gain determine the level you are hearing so you don't have one that is too low or loud. Then there a bunch of other features such as the PFL/Master split button and and level monitoring volume control. There is also a booth out or a PFL/Master balance knob. So alot of options there.

The Vestax is mostly a scratch mixer totally different but good.

Yeah I think I'm going to buy it, for $160 with free shipping that's pretty tough to beat, and I only own like 1 hip hop record right now anyway and only have stanton str8-80's. Then I figure if I get the money for techs and a crate of hip hop vinyl I'll worry about a scratch mixer or a mixer that can really do both well... and I mean, the resell value on the DX1000 has to be at least $100 one would think, so it's not like I'd be throwing away tons of money.
