Vestax 275's! Problem?

Hey,
Some of you may remember i had a pcv 175 which i found out had a standard dip in the middle with the cross-fader, and the kill switches made a pop noise. Well i am considering the model up from the 175 the 275. I am curious as to whether the 275 has the same problems as the 175. Like the dip in the middle of the cross fader and the crappy kill switches. If anyone has any good or bad experiences with the 275 then can you please tell me. And also can you help me out with if the 275 has the above faults! i am seriously thinking about getting the 275.

i have a 275 and i love it. apparently, it has a dip in the center, but if so, it's very faint, and most mixers have this.

as for the kill switches, mine sound very good. there is a slight *pop* but it's barely noticeable, especially if you time it right.

Just out of curiosity why did they make a dip in the center? I think it would be better without the dip in the center. But you say it isnt much? barely noticable?

Cool

all vestax mixers have the dip, its meant to make mixing smoother so the volume remains constant because when u mix 2 tracks playing at once is obviously gonna be louder than 1, even with loads of eq work. vestax mixers are designed for electronic music such as trance and house and this is why they devised this special fader, which also lasts much longer than most faders, not that i use my fader on my djm-600s hehehehe the kills make almost no noise compared to the 1175, but i recommend you try the stanton rm-3 which is also cheaper and has none of the above "problems"

I and most TAs would disagree with you on the stanton RM3. I've heard very bad things about it, and i think the vestax PCV 275 is way better.

then again, i have never used the RM3, so my opinion doesn't mean much!

well i've had both and i can honestly say they are both rather crap lol. the rm3 is the cheapest and is also the most resiliant, but my bass eq broke on it lol, but by 175, 2 faders broke and the faceplate paint comes streaming off if u so much blow on it. but the stanton maes far less crappy noise like the vestax's click + pop, and it doesn't have the dip in the fader, so imo its better value for money as it may give a more wet sound quality but doesn't give off a load of other crap. and i know wicked neo has lived by his until his recent purchase of a djm like me, and he never thought bad of the rm3, and i thought it was rather a nifty little mixer, although the colour is a bit off-putting.

that's the 175, the 275 is much better. honestly, i can't hear the dip at all, and everything feels very durable on this mixer.

but, to each his own i suppose, and i'd rather have your DJM600!

Ive got a 275 and love it. Nice sound, Clean Crisp EQ's.

I dnt like the 'dip' but its avoidable if you know what ur doing.

I really cant see the point in spending 600 quid on a DJM when u can have one of these for half the price. At the end of your day its only your bedroom. And for commercial purposes get the Allen n Heath one!

Hey again,
I dont think i will be buying vestax again. That dip really annoys me. Plus the 275 isnt much cheaper over here than the djm 500. Only about $250 seperating the two! Australian $$$$$. So i am gonna get the DJM 500. Not that it matters to you guys but ohh well

If I had $250.00 and no mixer then...

I've used the vestax 175 and 275 and just think that other than the third channel fader which I wouldn't use cause I mix with 2 turntables I would rather get the Vestax pmc-250 or pmc-25 (optional rotaries).

I can tell you that the sound of the pmc-250 is much better than the other two vestax and I might ad better than the DJM-600.

As far as EQ's this is the one you should get if you like to cut frequencys. Why's just take a look the little faders have a full cut on them and the big rotary knobs are for fine adjustments.

The beefy sound that you can produce with this mixer will shine on your recorded mixes. You cannot achieve this sound on the 275.

I would recommend this mixer as an entry level mixer to anyone because it teaches the art of the EQ like no other mixer.

Peace Guys
