Or you could innovate like Sasha who used 3 tables to configure his starting track....back in May of last year...when he started off with Planet Funk - Inside all the People [Harvey's Ibiza Remix] blended in with a few bits and pieces....
Why not give those clubbers a chance to see your skills, if you have perfect it, at the start of your set? Besides, most of them are still wide and awake....
I would say go with your natural instincts, if you have a tendency to read the crowd.....that's good...if not...start learning....
Bottom line: No one has the same music taste as you do....similar in some ways sure....but a DJ needs to perfect the motion of Flo in his/her set...
My dream set would be to start off with an Ambient tune, blended in with breaks samples...followed by progressive at about 110-120bpm before I hit the breaks....climax with trancers...and end off with breaks again....
It all depends on the location....and it doesn't hurt to go into the dancefloor and ask around what the crowd wants to hear.....Just because you are in control of the decks doesn't mean that you have to act like a snob and disassociate from the crowd....Even Sasha has went down to the dancefloors to greet his fans...not to mention, party!....
Takes more than practise to cool yourself down, not to mention hit the dancefloors and do a survey....do some Yoga
