ok...i just go 2 emails from 2 peeps...: [email protected][/email] and [email][email protected]

both with this messege:

the attachment from the 1st email was: gcdetails.xls.scr
and from the second: gcdetails.bmp.pif

the Hotmail virus scan (McAfee) didn't find any viruses....but i have my doubts...so i didn't Dl it....

anybody get this or know something about it????

edit: i found that i got a messege from my Anti-Virus program that there was a recent attack on my computer but was blocked... it said there was an attempt to connect to a local computer with teh NetBus trojan horse...15 attempts were made!!!

imm 99.999% sure this is a virus, the attached files are both renamed to be excituables, and never download them and run them. scr is a screen saver file, but any .exe can be renamed to scr and it will still load, .pif is somefing to do with windows compatability for dos programs and again could well be a exicutable file.

What id recomend is to email [email protected] and they will tell you in more detailed steps what to do, and to estblaish if someone is infected with a virus and sending it on without releasiing, or if someone is spammin this to everyone!

i'll contact them...

well...i didn't even open the attachments....and i was still attacked...by the trojan i mentioned above....

i don't know if this was a factor...but me MSN(hotmail) email is
[email][email protected]
so maybe they sent this based on the fact that i might know what GC is...???

oh well.

i doubt they guesed the gc link from ur email addy, it could well be a mate of yours whos been infected with the virus and its sending its self out to all email contacts in his/her adress book and your adress happens to be in there.

if you had a attack without downloading teh attachments make sure youve got rid of all traces of any tojen/virus and regulary run a virus scan just to make sure its gone!

wtf. i get sent these quite frequently. I just never open them. Are u saying that even if u just delete the email as soon as u receive them, u are still getting infected? if so i am well and truly ******ed.

i got an strange email some days ago from only-djs.com it contained all the people who are registered there and their email adresses
