this weekend i was finally able to get new headphones, the Sennheiser HD-280's and i absolutely love em...
funny thing is, i was so used to the cheap $2 headphones that came with the mixer (literally they would probably be like $5 headphones) that i couldnt mix for anything with the new ones because their sound is so incredible compared to the old shitass ones that it was hard for me to distinguish the drums and whatnot from other instruments in the songs because of the headphones having such a full sound

i definately never expected that, but i'm sure within the week or so i'll get used to em and be much much much better off considering when i put em on it blocks out the monitor speakers, needless to say the old ones did not and made it extremely hard to use.. till i got use to them (i had to deal with them for 4 months before i was in the market for some good ones)
