Can you switch the stylus on stanton integrated needles?
I have these:
but i am not too impressed with the quality. i get a hissing noise on some songs, even when i put lots of weight on them. they tend to skip a bit, and overall they don't sound that good.
I was wondering if i should get the standard replacement stylii:
STANTON REPLACEMENT STYLUS FOR TM-2-SK (2 PACK)
2 for $34.99
or, if i could substitute these ones:
STANTON REPLACEMENT STYLUS FOR GROOVEMASTER-RM
1 for 49.99
The second ones are more expensive, so i'd think they'd be better?
or there is also these ones:
STANTON REPLACEMENT STYLUS FOR TM-2-RS (2 PACK)
they didn't have a good picture of just the stylus, but they are 2 for $45
maybe these would be better? can i even switch them around like this or not?

yes, that is correct they are trackmaster II SKs
which is strange, because they don't look QUITE like the ones on pssl.com? they have a striped arrow, not a solid one.
To tell u the truth i got the same needle as you and i had no problems with them and my buddy has the groove master and they sound very similar to mine.

well, they aren't horrible, but they seem to have hissy high end sometimes.
what weight do you run them at? I have mine set on 2.5 usually, and sometimes crank it up to 3.5 if i really don't want them to skip, or if the hissing is annoying me.
I have mine at 2.5 too. I use the groovemaster every weekend and the only thing i've notice is it has more bass.

Come on Phu....The GroovemasterII's sound way better with the elliptical Stylii. The output on the G-II-RM-MP is higher and more suitable for our music.
With your Track-masters being spherical stylii, you are giving up sound quality and output for tracking capabilities.
Buy the appropriate needles and remember!!!!
Elliptical Stylii - easier on records, and sound better
Spherical Stylii - for scratching, sharper "point" will track in the grooves better. but wears records more.
Its like saying the diff. between your Ford Escort and my Ferarri is. "there pretty much the the same but the ferrari is a little faster

I have wondered this myself.... I have around 10 used GII-RM Stylii, kicking around if you wanna try it.
I spent weeks debating the Trackmaster II's and Groovemaster II's and after reading this thread, the G-II's were the right choice!
