Do d.j's have hearing problems?

After watching many djs live.. i have always wondered if they seem to have hearing loss or ear damage due to the accessive amount of high decible sounds that they endure almost every other day during their busy gig schedule.. does anyone know or has heard of this. I wonder about it becuase most of the time.. these dj as well have huge monitor speakers at their sides so they can hear the music in real time.

they also have control over the monitor/headphones volumes so they could be careful and like fassy said they do have earplugs.

it's the same idea as the rock stars.

My ears are always ringing but I'm pretty much used to it. I always crank up the stereo when I practice on my tables and when I'm just relaxing listening to cds. I always listen to music loud in my headphones too.

My brother used the sony headphones (mdv-7000 or something) for a year or so and he claims they made him slighty deaf in one ear. he says there too loud.
