man if you put house music in your bar..you might just called the the "tossed your salad" bar...LOL |
unfortunately i'm not as witty as i used to be, well, if i used to be at all, but yea... i don't get it.
anyhow, dark_tenshi, yea, house does seem a lot more fun to mix. i find trance is a little more conformed, where with such a genre as house, you can unleash ur creativity a bit more.
pointy, hehe, i actually walked into rhythm n soul one time hopin to find some trance there, but walked right out a few minutes later. i'll be sure to check the joint out again though.
appreciate the recommendations. be sure to check em out.
keep em comin! thanks!

I second that, the man's a genius. He used to post occasionally on the now defunct (or should that be de-funked?) Promos4DJs forum, and his bird did too. Top bloke, didn't care that like 80+ of his tunes were being hosted there, in fact he seemed quite flattered. But yeah, his stuff has some serious energy, tough funky stuff, perfect for those sweaty dancefloor moments.
I'd reccomend you some tracks (I have like 2gb of house music on the hard-drive of my other computer - which is now missing half its parts ) but the highlights (i.e. the ones I can remember) included:
Sandy Rivera - Changes
Milo - Jungle of Mirror (really addictive vocal)
Colours - The Guitar Track (Silicone Soul Remix)
Masters At Work feat India - Backfired (as camp as a row of tents, but catchy nontheless)
Lazy Dog feat Ben Watt - Lone Cat (all Ben Watt/Lazy Dog stuff is good, deep laid-back stuff)
Afro Medusa - Dreams
KOT - Changes
And that's about all I can remember sorry. They're all the most recent ones, not too commerical. If you want some other recent stuff with a more sort of tech/prog house feeling then you can search for my posts in the progressive topics here or in the "Teste Ticklers" thread in the Aussie forum.
Or, if you want older stuff, then I can help out with that too.
As for fourms, these are the only two I frequent that may be of some use to you:
http://forums.homeofmusic.com
http://www.global-mindz.com/forums
Anyway, I'm hardly an expert on house music, but that's a start. And I second Pointy's suggestion about Rhythm and Soul - been in there a few times with my DJ mate and it's packed to the rafters with house and progressive music, and the guys who work there really know their shit and are more than happy to pick out a few titles to get you started.
Hope all that helps.
