Is trance dead in Australia?
I rang a friend in Melbourne (progressive house DJ) today and he says trance is dead there. He said There is hard trance (and hard house) and progressive, but nothing in the middle.
I find that hard to believe. What do you guys think?

hmm .. I wouldn't say trance in Australia is dead, but I would definitely say its underground. Simply because there is only a very small following.
Whether that's a bad thing or not, I'll leave up to you to decide

There seems to be a very small following, maybe due to there not being much Trance nights around, however I think it's ok that way.
I wouldn't say it was dead though.

Ok would you rather the way it is here, nice and quiet, underground compared to everything else, or like it is in UK/Holland where every man and his dog goes out to clubs to hear trance. I know which I'd rather have.

to be honest.. id rather it stay this way
makes it more of a treat when we get internationals and events and also the fact trance doesnt hit the charts (like it does in Holland and other european places)

Yep, I bet heaps of ppl would complain if it was really popular and it was played on the radio all the time.

I dont mind Trance been "underground", but I cant stand people reffering to trance as DJ Sammy or some cheap techno song
Lots of un-educated fools

That is a load of rubbish. Trance is just starting to take off again:
Surge@Eden has been packed pretty much every time
Altitude@Dendy also gets a good reception
Transmission will definately sell out.
Two Tribes will get big numbers
PVD@Home will sell out

lots and lots of uneducated fools in Aust.
Australia has a big quiet base of trance lovers..
Trance gets a good reception at raves up here.. but is still underground, Bris mostly breaks, house, or hardhouse..
but this year we have a monthly Trance nite put on by the ozSessions crew.
BRING ON DA TRANCE
