Extreme Death Metal vs harcore Country and Western

(Kinda inspired by the 'rap or heavy metal' poll)

OK, so if someone locked you in a room and forced you to listen to one style of music, one of those 2, what would you prefer? I'm not sure exactly what Hardcore Country is, you can have your own idea of what it would sound like

i have a friend who listens to death metal and i kinda like some of the stuff, the guitar melodies are pretty good.. but every single track seems to be totally fucked up with the most horrible male vocals. dunno if those could be called 'extreme' death metal though, but it's certainly not comercial crap like limp bizkit, linkin park & co.

he also likes some progressive trance cd's i burned for him

I love metal, however i can't stand death metal. I love Tool, System of a Down, Ill Nino, Deftones, Slipknot, Nonpoint, and Korn. I also love classic metal such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Led Zeppelin. However, death metal is just total bull shit. Bands like Cannibal Corpse, who are from the town i live in [Jacksonville, Florida], Cradle of Filth, and etc. just make me wanna throw up. So, even tho i cant stand hardcore country or softcore for that matter, I think ill still go with it as my choice in this case. Eww.

dude, no offence, but SOAD, Tool and those other light bands you mentioned arent metal. theyre nu-metal. the genre is completely different, the inventors of the genre (Fear Factory) dont even say its metal, they say its aggressive alternative. anyways, sorry for my elitist ranting

Hah could be... or maybe just like hardcore hillbilly stuff, coz most of the country you might hear on radio etc is kinda poppy. Whatever you imagine to be the worst, haha
