Question Recording My Set on PC......

I have a Soundblaster Live soundcard with my decks and mixer hooked up to it, i record my mixes a lot and i seem to notice it being a bit distorted. I can never get it perfect quallity. Can you give me some tips on recording? I use Sound forge to record. I would just like to know what volume and what kinda normalizing i need to do to get it perfect.

Thanks

First this isnt the right forum, there is an area totally dedicated to this sort of thing.

But see if this helps.

Connect the computer to the output on the mixer that says REC not the standard volume control.

Second be very careful when you play your songs, make sure that they are at or below the 0 db range. (use the que function) to look at the highest level the song puts out. When i record I make sure that it never goes above the 0 db's. Try that and se if it helps. Anything above that will make it get very distorted. There are ways to cure the sound after it is distorted but that is a waste. Better to get it right from the beginning.

Otherwise your needles may be starting to go.

when listening to your mixes again do they come out via the shitty computer speakers. If so then you get distortion cos' basically computer speakers are shite. If the sound comes out via normal speakers then i don't know.
