Opening a Record Store.

Any idea how to do one? Me and friends just got home after a long day of a trial. There was a dance festival here and we took our records a deck and a mixer so people can have a listen etc. It was huge! We had people lining up to hear samples etc and people sort of supported us and encouraged us to do one. You all have any idea how to get in touch with supplier of records? How much does record store get records for? Where do we get decks and mixers and wholesale price? Any help at all? Appreciate all the helps and ideas you can give!

I think you have to have a retail store in order to get records at cost which is like 5 bucks?

It crosses my mind also. Just make sure you will havea strong customer base. You will most likely have to get some kind of permit or store certification, however they do it where you live to show proof to record companies... I think the initial bust is hard...Must have a good amount of money...

Some tips:

1. Check out www.only-djs.com they have a wholesale going on for vinyl stores and you can get great music from there, I think you can also preorder tracks so that you have it as soon as it's released and not have to wait for it.

2. If you open up a vinyl store make sure you also provide a selection of good cds that will suplement(grammar?) your income e.g. gatecrasher cds, gotskitchen, GU etc just incase vinyl sales do not generate enough profit.

3. You can also provide other products like glowsticks, vinyl bags, dj mags etc etc should attract more customers

As for equipment, I cant help ou much here, try checking out ebay for lower prices.
