Thumbs up So what are GOOD drums/bass?

My tracks have been criticized for having mediocre drums and bassline.
So what, in your view, are GOOD samples for drums, snares, & bass?

For example, I personally am interested in the hardstyle and my style of bass is simple-offbeat, but even that is hard to achieve.

Post your samples and share your ideas!
Maybe with Pjotr's plug-in we can create some phat samples!
thanks

You can try sampling kicks, or you can have a look at some percussion sample cds. As far as basslines go, you're best off making them yourself.

I'd post some examples but I don't have any webspace.

with your kicks, try eqing them, and adding compression. also, try layering multiple kick samples OVER each other.

i always avoid using samples for basses. the bass sample is destroyed if played like 3 tones up or down from original pitch... for a simple bassline that probably doesnt matter but we dont want simple basslines, now,do we?

kicks... compression always helps, layering is not a good thing if you cant get EXACT attack of both kicks you are layering. compress kick and bass together.

and you can get almost any snare sound by taking one and eq-ing it...
