Question Pioneer DJM600 for $85 . . . is this legit?

check it out . . . i think i understand what the deal is, trying to figure out how shady it is.

http://www.goraks.com/dj/index.htm

from what it looks like, you purchase one of their lameass books and as a "free gift" they put you on a list with other people to receive an item . . . so when you and 10 other people drop like $75 apiece on a book, the one at the top of the list gets a free product. It's kind od a good idea if you think about it, but it really matters how long the list takes to cycle and if the place is legit or not . . .

I would definatly recommend against getting involved in something like that. The way they explain in on the site, the only way they could make any money is for the list of people to get extremely long.

i.e. for every one person to get the mixer, 10 people have to sign up. By the time those 10 people get a mixer, 100 people will have had to sign up.

They kind of explain it here http://www.goraks.com/dj/howitworks.htm

Needless to say, if you are not near the very top of the list, you have very little chance of getting what you want. And I don't really trust their money back policy.

The best bet for inexpensive quality equipment is still buying used on eBay. I was able to get a used Technics 1200 Mk2 for under 200 from eBay and it still works perfectly.

Is it legit, probably - is it worth getting involved in this, absolutely not.

Why cant people just buy the product like a normal person.

I believe the description of how it works is the textbook definition of a PYRAMID SCHEME.

www.matrixwatch.com I think... Maybe .net or .org... anyway, there are many, many "matrix" (pyramid scheme) sites. Many are in litigation in the US, and most of the time the people get screwed. The FIRST few to sign up for something make out, but unless your one of the first, your fucked. I looked at the goraks site before, then researched the "matrix" sites. Trust me, you'll never see your mixer unless you were the first to sign up, especially because of how lowflow the matrix is.

i didnt look much for myself...but if people have to sign up under u or u have to recruit...PONZI SCHEME. But as long as the pyramid follows the %70 retail rule its perfectly legal. There are legal pyramids out there.

here's the answer to all of the questions:

http://www.matrixwatch.org/modules....ge&pid=2&menu=8

"This is the problem with most of the lists out there today. The lists are too long, and 98% of the people end up getting ripped off because there are not enough new cyclers joining to help "cycle out" the people still on the lists. In fact, as of May 8, 2003, the EzExpo website listed 3,731 names in the 50" plasma television matrix, and only a small handful of people have signed up in the last three months. Rather than being a 5-person matrix cycle like the example above, this 50" plasma TV matrix on EzExpo is a 50-person matrix. The #10 person on the list needs to wait until 500 people join, number 100 on the list needs to wait for 5000, etc. All the while, the list starts growing larger and larger."

There's no way in hell that a [usually] $1150 piece of equipment can be legitimately sold for $85. Even eBay is a hell of a lot safer than that.

thats the thing, theoretically, if you were the first person on the list, and 10 others sign up, there would be enough money in the "matrix pool" to buy it and you would receive the mixer legitimately for $85 . . . everyone else is just screwed, because theres no way anyone else wants to sign up after that.

Don't get involved.

These scams or only ever designed to make money for the person that thought of it.
Further more, there are certain areas which are a little unclear such as taxation etc depending on the laws of where you live.

even if it is legal, it's certainly not disigned to benefit you.

Leave it well alone is my thought on the subject.

Cheers
Nem

It looks legit to me. its simple math really. the guy makes $250 profit or whatever..and they give you your money back if you don't get it in 6 months.
http://www.goraks.com/dj/pioneer.htm
the way i figured it. if there is a chance i get ripped off, and there always could be, I payed him with PayPal so its through that AND visa. $85 dollars comes to a good deal for a $1000 mixer. Yes i'm on that list and the way i look at it, its a no lose situation. Sure it looks sketchy but isn't it easier for someone to just say "oh it's a scam" and they sound like some sort of genius; rather than actually reading up the details like I did. So anyways EVERYONE PLEASE GO SIGN UP SO I CAN GET MY MIXER. http://www.goraks.com/dj/pioneer.htm
