NYC, LA or Miami? Montréal???

What city is the trance capital of USA/North America?

After receiving quite a few responses to this question a few weeks back, NYC, LA, Miami and Montréal were the principal cities mentioned. As I am quite aware that trance music is still very underground in the North America, I knew there would not be an official capital, but perhaps an unofficial capital in the underground world of trance throughout North America.

Why do I care? 'cause I'd like to visit a city where the trance scene has some punch. New York City's scene never impressed me in the least. Been there several times...never to return.

Not surprised to hear Miami mentioned. Surprised to hear Montréal mentioned. Very, very surprised to hear LA mentioned.

As trance is so underground in North America, it becomes such a challenge to immerse oneself in the culture. The trance scenes that do exist in North America are conspicuously located in major cities. The scenes are never vibrant and very small to say the least. I should just move overseas. Then the struggle will be over. North America will never quench my thirst for trance.

I reckon Australia has a better trance scene than all of North America. I lived in Sydney for two years, and it wasn't all that bad in way of its trance scene. At the time, I thought it was not up to par. Then, I returned home and realized how unpopular and how disliked trance music is in North America.

I'm thirsty for a glass of trance. I want to get drunk on trance.
I want to swim in trance. Show me the way....................

Though id LIKE to say Montreal, its not really a home for trance. Sure, we have great trance acts all the time, but theres no EDM radio station, most ppl here are wiggers and listen to rap, and not to mention stupid FRENCH rap (arrrgh).

We DO however love funky house music

Id say its Miami...just cause of party 93.1 or whatever its called...

Yeah, montreal is a party town, but it's big on house. I've never been to either of the other cities so I really can't say.

Well we lost Party 931..

But I'd have to say Miami only cuz I live here but I have no idea about everywhere else.

I just think it depends when you go. Because house seems to be the 'in' thing now. Edgar V has a residency on Saturday afterhours.. George Acosta spins on wednesdays somewhere [ even if he is lame ] and a local TA spins trance at a club in SoBe every tuesday.

There's nothing "underground" about trance in America.

NYC is pretty good.. but all of these cities compared to some very small europian cities are nothing. Why? Trance is not so big in USA.. that it the american TAs next mission.. to kill the rap and replace it with trance

That is so true.

On regular nights in clubs it is true you will be most likely to find house or rap.

But headliner speaking there is nothing underground about trance that is fact. Trance headliners tend to fill up clubs the most like crazy crowded everyone and their mother comes out cause they think it's the coolness.

Trance city there is truly none in the world.

For the longest party go to Montreal
For the biggest parties go to New York
For the most parties go to Miami
For the most well organized parties go to LA.
For the earliest ending parties go to Boston.
For the most squeezed parties go to DC.

End of discussion.

That's not cool, you didn't mention Toronto!!!

I think Toronto is growing fast, we get a TOP DJ here every 2 weeks and I'm talking about Tiesto, Armin, Ferry, Rank 1, Airwave, MIKE, .... the list goes on, so I'd say Toronto is up there, but from what I hear Miami is prolly first place, Toronto is second

Or, maybe because finally a decent trance dj has come to town and all the TA's get to come out of their holes? Why always think negative? I don't understand...

I'm just stating the facts. That is all.

To see Oakey fill a place to overcapacity when 95% of the people in the place have no clue what he is or represents but just know he's cool or something goes to show that there is most certainly a commercial aspect to it.
