you know what i think...

theres like a natural progression with electronic music... like initially i got into trance and is till enjoy the stuff i got into as have alot of people here, i think trance is great for that its a very accessible genre... but as you listen to it more and more and got heavier involved you move onto other things... i had a big progressive stint and now im really into house... also im appreciating techno very muchly... which is really weird because just reading the threads on this board now i see the enthusiasm some of you guys who are just getting into trance have and thats great, i used to be exactly the same but i think keep a open mind... find things you like in other genres and try and keep that level of passion up when you approach new things too... its just i remember making threads like half the ones here that go along the lines of "WTF HOW COMES THERES NO TRANCE" "OMG EVERYONES SO CAUGHT UP IN THIS THIS AND THAT GENRE, THEY NEED TO HEAR PROPER TRANCE!" "I CANT BELIEVE THEY DONT LIK EIT SO IGGNORANT" fact is people have probably gone through a trance stint and the reason there not so excited about it now is cause theyve moved on to other things or found somethign else to appreciate... the other forms of electronic music are great, they really are, you gotta look at them in thier own contexts (like techno has to be heard live and loud! ) and appreciate what there doing, like technically techno djs are brilliant.
i just thought this thread was neccesary cause just reading through the music discussion im seeing a 100 threads along those lines

also i was curious all you old school trance addicts come out and suppourt my theory! whos moved onto other genres! (noone posting whos registered from 2002 onwards ) hehehe

Well I liked Goa first, then I got into trance 1999 (just in time to catch the good stuff) and now I am getting seriously into breaks and alternative stuffs like that.

i think that its all about the good tracks, fuck the genres...of course each person has their own favorite tracks which probably most of the time are set in a certain genre, but i'm taking anything thats good, which usually seems to be prog house or trance hehehe.

I've done the same, but for me it's more of my tastes expanding rather than just progressing to different styles. I started out with trance, but still listen to trance, while at the same time I enjoy a lot of harder stuff and progressive stuff as well..

I've really stopped caring about the genres. To me, it's what's good. There is so too much Shitty chance, boring prog, repetitive techno, cheesy breaks, and so on and so forth to be an elitist in one genre. Open your ears to all the different sounds.

Yes ppl open your ears... It's not only about 1 genre... which is why I've always posted the occasional prog track or techno liveset for download.

I love it when people bitch me out for it too.

The problem with people is that a lot of them like to be stuck in one group and don't want to associate with another group. Just because you love trance doesn't mean you hate techno, and vice-versa - but a lot of ppl just assume that.

I like to listen to a little bit of everything as I find it keeps me from getting bored. I used to listen to nothing but trance, but now I've branched out into prog, techno, etc... and I'll never go back to just 1 genre again. If you get stuck in 1 genre you miss out on a lot of great tracks.
