This is concerning the music downloading services that collect payments (i.e. legit or not-pirated). Does anyone have experience using any of them? Any recommendations? I am still collecting Vinyl like a crazy person, but there are times when I need a particular track and it's just easier to download it. Most of the ones I download are mixed versions, so they lack an intro and outro (BOO!!!). Any thoughts are welcomed and appreciated!!!

PS - I guessed on which forum to post this question. Hope I got it right!

The thing is that the mp3's on Kazaa are usually some mixed version. You know, the ones that go "BOOM ..." right at the beginning. They leave very little room to mix. Just a pet peeve Some of those services aren't too expensive. For example, one is like $4 a month, and you get 100 downloads. Problem is that the selection ain't that great.
The other thing that makes me nuts is that half the files on Kazaa seem to have a virus. Mostly true for applications, though.

As far as I know it's not possible to have a virus in an *.mp3-file...
There are other sources than kazaa you know

I was never sure if a virus could attach to an mp3, but who am I to say it isn't possible Those hacks prove me wrong all the time! hehe
I guess it's all about downloading mixed versions of the songs. The best example I have is a track from a Christopher Lawrence Mix, Technocat 2000 Trauma. It has a very cool intro, but the only versions I've located are from his mix. Gah! The horn in the intro is killer, and it makes a good opening track for a mix. Like I said, pet peeve Moot point too, since I'm buying the vinyl.

I have used EMusic for awhile (www.emusic.com) and it works great for what it is. Lots of mp3s for a flat monthly rate, but they are only 128kbps, and which is not great and there is not selection of trance (most of which is mixed CDs not singles).
