Trance & Ethics

This is my 500th post.... woo hooo...

Finally.. lol... so anyways here it goes...

Do you feel that trance has altered your perception on how you see life and how you portray yourself towards others?????

I feel that im changed.. im more open minded of people and more friendly towards ppl, but then again there are ppl here in the boards that are really negative when you say stuff like PvD rocks...

How i see life... life is a journey, and trance helps me live that journey a small step at a time...

How i portray myself towards others is pretty simple... i try to do things that are fun and try to make good communication, trance is what made me become, in what i think is a better person, to who i was...

Do you feel this way about trance also?

Cause back before '99, U didn' give a damn about PvD, but now that he's pressin' platinum LP's, all of a sudden ur' into
his killer beat's! Ain't nothin' U can do to make it stop cause trance makes the world go round, so cut the act...

Short answer Yes,

Long answer, trance is me

Trance has allowed me to find and follow a true passion, trance allows me to express myself, and also given me greater acceptance of others.

I've met many a new friend (no not off chops!) from the music.

Not sure if life is built up of small steps, whatever way you wanna phrase life, trance is always playing in mine

Everyone I know who doesn't enjoy trance, just seems very up tight these days. I can TELL they aren't libereated, and it's farking weird coz you help them see freedom (for some IE us, it's trance).

I'm thankful every day for trance, and that's no shit.

Not really, no.
Trance is just music like any other genre.

Personally I'm yet to see that.

RnB has a lot of gangsters about and is about how much gold you wear, and how good you dance, or if you can break dance. I place hip hop somewhere near here

Pop is all about how good you look and how many 10000 friends you know.

SOME house is about the clothes you wear and the drinks you drink

Hard trance is about getting of guts.

Trance, Uplifting Melodic Trance, is about emotion, letting yourself going, happiness and a europhic feeling, something none of the above can/all you to do.

To you, maybe.

I've personally never selected certain music style depending on what I wear, how tough I feel etc. etc.

To me music is music, regardless of genre.

All music effects everyone, agreeded. BUT doesn't different styles make you feel different ways? Not saying one style of music is better than another but to me personally Trance is my fav, and has braught me through a lot.

ALSO different styles of music attract a different crowd, you have to give me that. EG Death Metal fan dressed in full latex; how many people like that do you get @ a trance gig? I've seen none, why? I assume (yes assume) that they are not attracted to trance.

I don't mean to be going against you all the time, I just think your points, in relation to mine require more depth/thought on my part to get my point across.

/djway lets the topic go back, on_topic.

Yes it has.

I'll tell you why:

Over the past few months its allowed me to lose my inhibitions and feel more comfortable with myself and my surroundings - it like the people i meet through the sharing of the passion that alter and often enhance my way of thinking and help me see things that i otherwise may have not seen.

Its sense of community has allowed be to embrace it as an escapism from life's daily tribulations of home and my own institionalised existence.

I attribute its qualities to my confidence and pride...
It has been something that I immerse myself in as not only a hobby but an emotional outlet for frustrations, depressions and often moments of utter jubiliation.

Its helped me develop my own aesthetic and self worth and sense of 'style' - flaired with my own sense of individuality amongst a crowd of faceless people.

It drives me forward as a source of divine inspiration and helps me channel positive energy into areas of my life that need attention when im down.

Lame or not.

Ive relinquished my own inhibitions, and freed myself from boring fucking norms and the shackles and restraints which mass culture and consumerism have burdened me with.

Electronic Music & its sense of community have indeed changed my life.

Trance is my favorite form of self-expression. Music is a very poweful tool in conveying emotions. Of the many forms of music, Trance best describes my personality and emotions.

hell i love trance to death, but it is only music.

good music is good music because it allows you to experience things outside of what your everyday life might provide you. but that being said its just little waves of sound.

any 'change' you experienced is due to your own progress, something natural, or bum ba dad dum! drug use.

im neither avocating a position on that, nor refuting it.

trance doesnt make you 'more open minded' because i have met LOADS of people on TA that hate any other genre of music, or refuse to listen to certain types of electronic music if that electronic doesnt sound like a certain producer or dj.

but music does bring people together, and any relationships you make because of music could be influenced by it, but those relationships werent *created* by music or a certain music genre|
