A couple reasons.
1) A jewish tradition. Why exactly it is, i dont know.
2) was done way back in the day when people didnt have access to fresh water to keep clean. Done as a hygiene thing.
Today i dont see any reason why non-jews would want to do this.Perhaps since its been done for so many generations, it just seems like the norm. Or at least here in the U.S.A. thats the case. Personally i think its wrong and barbaric. Im cut, i wish i wasnt. My dad once told me that he had me done because he was done and wanted his son to look like him down there.
