online elections....

that other thread about voting age got me thinking...

what do you think of having online elections? it's been proposed to try and increase voter turnout at the polls...

my opinion is that if those people can't be bothered to get of their asses and vote in the traditional way, then the election really isn't that important to them and they're probably unaware of important issues pretaining to the election...

i dunno.. is it better off that these people DON'T vote?

i can understand certain cases where the elderly or disabled find it hard to leave the house.... but if its just laziness and apathy, then i think these people should just abstain and not do a half assed job of voting on the internet... jsut my opinion.. what's everyone else think?

Although the point about "willingnes" sounds plausible I'd still say Give It A Chance. After all making your way to the voting cabin (forgive for not knowing the exact word ) isn't part of the democratic deal. I also don't think there'd be such a signifcant difference when online-voting is possible. Those who refuse to leave their houses don't do that out of physical laziness, they just don't give a fuck. So instead of browsing www.elections2004.com they'll check out TA or some porn site.
I don't see this happening anytime soon, though. Not as long as uv've got no 1000% anti-hacker safety

P.S.: who of you actually clicked the "link"?

Yeah, I don't think you could ever have perfect security. Then again, after our last election, maybe it wouldn't be any worse...
