If the West Bank and Gaza belong to "Palestinians", why were they under the control of Jordan and Egypt until June 5, 1967?
If Arab "Palestinians" just want their own state, why didn't they ask for it before 1967?
Why is it, according to many articles written in 1967, that when the Arabs talked about "occupied territories", they meant all of Israel? |

always with the same tired old rhetoric to justify occupation. The land called the Occupied Territories belongs to Arabs. The land called Israel wants to take it from them just like they took land in 1948-1949.
You people know what you did was wrong.
The best discussion of the Israel-Palestine question in my view is contained in the opening chapters of Robert Fisks "Pity the Nation" a book on the war in Lebanon but also covering the wider middle east.
In it he talked to people who lived at the time and what they went through. It is very compelling reading because he talks to ordinary people Jews and Arabs who were caught up in events they really had no control over and he goes to visit the places where those people lived fifty years on.
I would suggest to anyone who has even the remotest interest in the Middle East to read the first few chapters of Pity the Nation. Well read the whole thing if you can but it is a very large book.
So I challenge any Israeli or apologist of the same to read it and then come back here and smugly proclaim how the arabs have no legitimacy to their grievances.
