Theres a bunch of record shoppes in Toronto... but if you lookin for ones with the best trance selection i'd sy check out The Pit(Yonge St & College). They always had a good selection of belgian flavoured trance. Aslo try Release Records(Yonge & Isabella). They have mainly anthem type of tracks, but you sometimes can locate some gems.

peace
dave

Personally I prefer Release over Pit.

In Pit, I find the sales people to be somewhat... pushy. I went in looking for ONE record, and the guy started shoving all kinds of stuff into my hands.

I was just in Toronto buying vinyl a couple weeks ago and to summarize Release Records has alot of Prog, Pit has a mix of everything, and Play De Records was a waste of my time. lol

Same... the guy that does that is the owner... you go in and he asks you, "What style do you like?", then hands you 50 records or more, of which most are complete shit. Release is the best, then The Pit, and then there's Play de Record too, but it's so crammed in there, that you don't even want to bother with it unless there's a record that your really searching for.

Release Records is on the East side of Younge St. about a block or so north of College.
The Pit is on the east side of Younge St. a few shops down (south) of College.
Play De Record is about a block or so north of Dundas beside The Zanzza Bar (sp?)(The Strip Club).

yeah the guy at the pit can be really pushy sometimes

but i think all the record shops in t.o are all pretty good spots...ive found gems at the 4 major places left downtown

i haven't been to metropolis in a long time...but ive found lots of things there over the past couple of years...and i love how the records come in that plastic sleeve

release is great, especially because they have their site which saves me a weekly trip downtown

the pit gets some great releases but i find it really intimidating in there...lots of egos flying around imho...still a great shop though

play de is wicked too...you just have to dig
ive found numberous things there and they even ordered me a copy of nunrg - dreamland when it was basically impossible to find in toronto

great store...they just need a bigger space!

you can also try funky boodah in markham
its not bad...ive found maybe maybe 6 - 10 quality tracks there since they opened and i haven't been in 6 - 8 months...i found that they never really stocked new trance lately (in terms of when i last went there) though...after my last couple of visits i was just looking through the exact same vinyls
not sure if they've started ordering trance again though...anyone?

Come on

The Pit is a good store. All paul is doing is loading you with more tracks - that you MIGHT like. Obviously you're not going to like them all - maybe none. But its better than missing out on a rare find that you might have over looked on the shelves.

See i wouldn't mind it, if that happened and there was a rare one in there, but there never is. I always know what i want when i go in there, so for someone like me, when he gives me a ton of records that are about 90% crap, is a waste of my time. I dig through the crates in all the stores, so if there is a rare one in there.. chances are i'll find it.
