Thought I'd upload this one because I had a bit of trouble finding it on Google, which is quite strange for such a big artist. This era was probably the peak of PVD's productions for me, but I've never heard a DJ mix from him from the mid-90s until this one. This flavour of energetic progressive trance is probably my all-time favourite era for trance, and there are also a few great prog breaks moments here and there.

This is an absolutely stunning mix. I remember having 90 minutes of it on tape somewhere and have fond memories of listening to this when I used to cycle home from work at 2am in the morning.

It saddens me to see how the mighty have indeed fallen.

The BBG and Yello tracks are particularly awesome!

In an unrelated contrast, listening to this calibre of music and riding on a bike at 2am in the morning are just two of the things that are now virtually redundant due to:

The abundance of shit music, Celebrity DJ egos and intoxicated hoodlums with a craving for theft.

I also find it interesting to compare this Essential Mix with BT's effort from the same year, and how the two reflect their respective artist albums from this period. This PVD Essential Mix is a lot like Seven Ways - a no-nonsense pumping trance session start to finish, where BT's is a real mix-up of genres, just like ESCM. Funny thing is, I prefer PVD's album but I think I prefer BT's EM:
