I'm all for the steamin' weiners! lol..
But since I don't live where I can get street-meat (or snouts & assholes as we called them when I worked in a butcher shop) I BBQ them myself.
Here is the key to good home-BBQ'd tube-steaks:
- Get a good quality all beef dog (J. Schwinkter [sp?] brand is the best I've had)
- Boil it first. Boil it for about 2 or 3 minutes to ensure it's cooked (although you can eat them raw, becuase dogs are pre-cooked)
- BBQ it just to get the golden-brown crispyness on the outside. Since it's already hot and cooked (from boiling) you just need to sear it on high heat
- Cut into it a few times while BBQ'ing - this helps to sear the whole dog, not the outside

As far as my favorite topings, here is how I eat my dogs:
- Cheeze Whiz or Kraft Singles
- French's Mustard
- Heinz Ketchup
- Saurkraut
- Tobasco
- A1 sauce

Remember - my advice on cooking is coming from someone who worked as a butcher's apprentice for 3 years as a part-time job (grade 9 through 12). I know my meat!
