on behalf of Code, I apologize for that debauchle last night...
Mauro ended up playing from 3-4:15
the reason for this was because his flight to DC from Toronto was heavily delayed, and no matter what time he arrived, he had to leave Code by 4:30 to catch a flight to another gig in Frankfurt Germany. Both these problems were beyond anyone at Code's control, just an unfortunate stroke of bad luck it seems
I will repost what I posted on the Code forum here about the other issues:

quote:

Mauro's flight to DC (from toronto I believe) was greatly delayed, and then no matter what time he got here, he had to leave by 4:30 to make it to a gig in Germany...I agree it sucked ass that he only played an hour and 10 minutes...but both of those factors were way beyong the control of the Code staff. People have the right to be mad, but understand that the guys at Code really couldn't have done anything to make Mauro play a longer set.
However, I do agree that the whole tickets/line problem was a total load of shit. I realize the prices can go up the later the night gets, but going from $15 to $25?? thats rediculous, especially with the knowledge that Mauro would be playing an extremely short set. Letting only 2 people in at a time (so as to obviously pass time and have more people pay the jacked up price) was just a dick move. I really feel bad for all the Mauro fans who had to pay $10 more than what they were told to see a set that was 1/6 the length of what they were promised, that just shouldn't happen. I realize at other places, like Arc last week, you would pay $25 to see Mauro, but then again, it is NYC, where everything is a lot more expensive, and Arc is open till 8, and you also got to see Brian Zentz and Gabry Fasano; making the $25 price a lot more reasonable...
I dunno, between this debauchle, and the stupid concert 3 hour runover at last week's event, Code just seems to be having an assload of bad luck latley. A lot of my friends are losing faith in it quickly unfortunatley...

How could he have a flight that early to another country, when he was scheduled to play a 6-hr set??? My friends also left at 3, very disappointed. I hope Code compensates those who were cheated.

the set he was schedualed to play was from 10:30pm to 4:30am, that would've been six hours...but his flight got delayed, so he ended up getting there around 3....

Still, that sucks that the club would charge its patrons that high cover charge, knowing he'd be so late.

yet another apology from the Code bookings director:

quote:

Due to circumstances beyond our control Mauro Picotto did not fulfill his set time at Nation. Mauro was originally supposed to land in Washington, DC at Reagan Airport at 8:30 PM on United flight #4762. Unfortunately this flight was fully canceled due to mechanical problems. He was then rescheduled on a 7:10 flight out of Toronto connecting in Chicago and onto DC which would have made it possible for him to arrive at the venue only a half hour late. When his flight reached Chicago we received a phone call from his management saying there was a delay. This 30 minute delayed turned into over an hour. Mauro finally boarded his flight from Chicago to DC after 12 midnight and landed at Dulles at 2am. Our drivers rushed him to the venue immediately where he took the decks at 3:15 am and ended a little after 4:30 to head back to Reagan to start his way to Germany for his gig the next night.

We apologize for the miscommunication and inconvenience this has caused everyone. In all honesty it was just one thing after another with the flight disasters. We appreciate your feedback and comments you can post them here.

We will try to the best of our abilities try to make special arrangements for those of you that want to attend the Deep Dish event as a sincere apology. When it comes down to it the customer is always right and we want to treat our customers with respect and consideration. Information for next week's event can be found at www.CodeDC.com

New musical direction in the front room and patio will begin next week. We hope to see you there.

Kind Regards,
L. Copicotto
Bookings Director
Code @ Nation

I'm so glad that Amit didn't convince me to come to that show. Instead, I got to relax and spin at home. Good times.
