I don't care care what anyone says, until Matt Darey starts producing monster tunes again I will never be able to compare a year to 1999. Hopefully now he's back in the studio I'll be in for a good year.

Yeah it has been a great year so far. But then one of the things with '99 was that a lot of older tracks were brought back in softer, more fizzy chill-out versions.

Now we're also seeing a lot of older tracks brought back again for rethinks.

We now have something close to a formula, in quicker time, and a pretty good one, of releasing a track, later releasing a vocal take and then releasing comissioned remixes. Take Rank1 as an extreme example of this.

But there seems to be a lot of optimism in the community at the moment, and a lot of remixes n tracks are getting into the comercial charts, superstar dj's are playing major gigs, so money is being made, but will it stay like this, or is it gonna explode and die out?

Im amazed at the tracks coming out , tracks like "as the rush comes" is seriously an amazing track , and I think the difference is not as many chill out tunes as 99 and not same style but none the less Im almost wanting to say this might be another "year of trance"

The production is more polished, but not more innovative.

I don't mean to be a naysayer, but I wouldn't put this on par with 1999, or even 1997.

We need new producers.

We need new DJs.

I want something more fresh.

That's all I have to say.

nowadays trance > 90's trance

back in the days everything was very inovative and fresh, but nowadays the production quality is soooooooooooo much better.

hmm, in a word no... 4 years ago most tunes were really simplistic, eg don't be afraid (corsten's 99 mix)

now compare that to a track of similar mentality

system f - spaceman

no comparison production wise
