Markus Schultz Reconstruction

So what is the story with these tracks? Are they ever getting released or are they just one of a kind tracks that we will never have?

why do u want them released? theres nothing new, except some of M. Schulz special effects, that hes adding during mixing... i dont even understand why they called SPECIAL RECONSTRUCTIONs... like... he deleted the vocals from Annie Lennox...whats so special about it?

Whats so special about them?, I believe I can answer that, Sometimes tracks have parts that sound good, parts that sound bad, what he does is get the good parts of tracks and works around it reconstructing the tune from the ground up to make it flow better, and at times adds his own flavor to it, These reconstructions are exclusive to the GDJB, And will not get released, Anyways, Expect a Markus Schulz Reconstruction of Ferry Corsten - Indigo very soon.

They are done exclusively for his sets. Each track that is reconstructed has a different reason for existing, and if you notice, the credit always goes to the original remixer, Markus just labels them as reconstructions, because there was always a debate as to why the song didnt sound like the one DJ so and so played. He reconstruct's it for his needs.

Remember folks, there is no magic box or plug in that takes vocals out of a track. If you want to play an instrumental version but there is none available, the only way to have an instrumental is to make it yourself.

Example:

A Break in the clouds- James Holden (Markus Schulz reconstruction)

Markus took that amazing breakdown melody that only happened once in the original version, which lasted for only 16 bars and looped it and made the entire reconstruction based on that loop. He also made the breakdown happen twice, the 2nd breakdown lasting 32 bars instead of 16. The percussion was also Markus's, and he made it sound similar to James Holden's drums as to not alter the vibe of the track too much.

Pavement Cracks- Annie Lennox (Scumfrog Remix-Markus Schulz reconstruction)

There was no dub or instrumental version of this available, so Markus took parts where there was no singing in the vocal version, and looped them, using many of the same sounds that Scumfrog used in order to not make it not sound like a loop. The vocal version just didnt fit Markus's sets.

Lets get ill- P Diddy (Deep Dish remix- Markus Schulz reconstruction) Markus made a dark melodic intro and then used the baseline loop from the deep dish mix. He also made a breakdown. This song was very big at the time, but the track when played in his sets felt out of place and randon.

Activator- Whaterver Girl (Filterheadz dub- Markus Schulz reconstruction)

There actually isnt a Filterheadz dub of this one, but Markus did the same as the Pavement Cracks vocal, and just found loops with no vocals. Markus also replayed the melody with a big string to make it sound bigger and more massive. He also added a filtered breakdown and an arppagio that makes the track fit better in his melodic sets.

I know there are a ton that I missed, but if you want particualrs, just post them, and I can describe what he did and why he did it.

BTW, Markus is sitting here with me, helping me with this post, so dont hesitate to ask, we can get the answer right from the source.

there is a big difference between a Markus Schulz Coldharbour remix and a Markus Schulz reconstruction.

What about "edge facor" remixes? What's the difference?

I picked up sunday club- palladian dawn (edge factor remix) a while back for a couple of bucks, and it's an amazing tune.

Edge factor was the name of Markus's Radio show in Arizona. It ran from 92-2000. So the Edge Factor remixes he did was done during that time period........Here is FYI.....Jayne Hanna "Lost without You"....the one that is on Sasha & Digweed's Northern Exposure III (Expeditions) is remixed by Markus. That is also called "Edge Factor Remix".....but they did not put remixers names on the credits!

Very well said, As you can see, A reconstruction is needed if you feel a track sounds better if you added some touches to a part of a track that has a really good breakdown or melody.
