Question

I make back ups of my favourite mp3s by putting them onto cd rewrites, and have to format the discs first.
If I am going to send a friend some mp3s on a cdr (not rewritable) how do I go about this?

Not sure i understand the question...

There are several programs available to help you copy music over to your CD's. If you mean to have the music available to be played in any stereosystem etc... you need a program like EZ CD Creator 4.0+ to turn the .mp3's into regular CD Audio.

If you just want the data form of the .mp3's copied over... simply just make a data CD (format a cd for data only) and copy the mp3's over to it.

If you want toplay the mp3's on any CD player, you're going to have to convert it to .wav files.
You can use something like winamp, just change the output function to produce a wav file - in preferences. Make sure you have enough hard drive space, the .wav files will be about 10x (in not more) the size of the .mp3.
Next use a program to burn onto the cd as an audio cd, use adaptec or nero.

I prefer nero, more user friendly & better functionality.
Also, nero has a very very cool feature, it allows you to say where tracks end, so say we have that 60MB mp3 mix from tranceaddict (where else of courese), we convert that to .wav, about 600MB - just big enough for a cd.
Then we take nero, show where all the tracks end, thus after you burn the cd, you'll be able to skip between tracks, as opposed to having one large 60minute track.

I'm about to do that in the next month on a Ministry of Sound Album. I own the tapes & want to convert it to cd, but also include track endings, to enable me to skip between.

Easy CD Creator you don't even have to convert it to .wav files. The latest version lets you dump the .mp3's right into CD-Audio format. Pretty nifty... though i do like that track splitter option... ill have to look into that.

I'm going to be putting a few albums onto 1 cdr not creating a cd for a cd player.
I have Adaptec version 4 so do i need to format the cdr or do I just make a "data" cd?

I use NTI CD Maker 2000 Profesional, The reason why cause Easy CD Creator doesnt suport 128 character long file names since it only lets you make mp3 cds with only 64 characters long file names, I burn all my single MP3s and my live mix MP3s onto CDRs since I got a portable MP3/CD Player, It can play all the tracks and play up to 10 hours of music.

ok..if u just want the songs as they are in mp3 format then burn on your burner using the data cd approach...

if u want to burn them into wav format which is used by cd players then u make an audio cd.

programs i use...depending on what i'm doing are......

NERO (good for changing into .wav format (it's faster)

Easy CD CREATOR- for making data cds...(leaving songs in mp3 format

CDR-WIN - I use when i have a cuesheet for a live set or something...

Hope That helps bro

agi, if you own a cd writer,
it should have come bundled with easy CD or Nero.
The Creative ones come with Nero,
not sure about HP,
I think Ricoh comes with Easy CD.

I prefer Nero to easy - CD, I've used both for data burning & Nero just seems to work "nicer", for want of a better word.

Never heard of CDR-Win, Raverfriendly, where'd you get it?
