yet another vinyl vs. cd question

to all of the djs here that spin both vinyl and cds:
given the choice would you rather buy songs on vinyl or cd? the reason i ask is that i bought AvB Yet Another Day on cd for like $11 and it has 6 mixes of the song on it, if you wanted to get all of these mixes on vinyl it would cost considerably more than $11. I was on dancegrooves.com looking for some music and they have Summer Calling on cd with 5 mixes for $8.80, seems like a no brainer but there is just something about adding to my vinyl collection. Your thoughts........

If it's cheaper, it's cheaper.
They are still the same tunes regardless of the format.

I spin both, and I if both formats were available, I wouldn't have to think twice about which one to get. Definitely vinyl.

Well, I don't exactly agree with you. Many people will not hear the difference, but it is said that vinyl has a more richer sound than the digital sound format of normal cd's.

And I stick to vinyl also. Most of the music I buy doesn't even make it to cd... Thank god for that! Nothing beats putting your fresh vinyl on the TT and spin it for the first time. The smell, the touch....ahhhhhh...

the recording format necessary to duplicate the exact sound of vinyl and represent it on cd hasn't been released yet. when it does, i imagine they will need to use dvd-r size discs to hold the file sizes.

Hopefully CD Turntables will use be supporting SACD or DVD Audio soon. And if a club can manage to set up a surround sound club, I will start producing tracks in surround sound.

As someone already said....there is NOTHING like sticking a piece of vinyl on there and spinning it for the first time....

Definitely vinyl.

to tell thats pretty much the way that i feel too. if i can get a cd with a bunch of different mixes on it that i like i would rather just buy the cd. there is something to be said for spinning vinyl and having records, but if i can save a few bucks buying cd singles than its more than worth it to me.
i also think that a cd will probably last longer than a record if you take care of it. dont records get worn out the more you play them? i have yet to wear out a record but i just started playing around with turntables. as for the whole "vinyl sounds better" thing, i dont want to start a war, maybe it does but its not a big enuff difference for me to switch to playing 100% vinyl.

depends on how much i like the tune. If not that much, defaintely the cheaper cd option. then again, depends on what the price difference is. Normally A$6 for a cd verus 20-22 for records, then it'll be the cd almost everytime. However, some tunes I already have on CD i still bought the record when it was on special ($12).
