The only things I can think of are that a lot of his tracks have a lot of “stuff” going on in them (buzzing sounds, etc.), even in the intros/outros, so the sounds may clash. Also, to me, his bassline (kick drum) tends to sound flat & wide (not sure the technical term for this) compared to kicks in a lot of other tracks that “pop” more/are more pronounced/sharp (like a lot of PVD style tracks – know what I mean?). Compare Urban Shakedown (original) with Urban Shakedown (G&M project mix) for an example. I find its easier to mix tracks w/the more pronounced kicks (like the g&m project mix). Keep trying though, MIKE stuff is great!

his bd + bass sound dodgy in many tunes whilst in the mix, stuff like live another life sounds particularly nice when mixed tho

I think KID-M really nailed it. His basslines are pretty thick and he does not use a real hard kick (PvD is a great example of a nice solid kick). Also he does tend to have a decent amount of effects type stuff "wooshing" around; but I think the main thing is the sort of undefined kick and thick bass line.
Do you know if you are having trouble getting them beatmatched in the first place? In this case I guess you could try matching the highs instead of the bass.
If the trouble is just trying to make smooth EQ transitions, well practice I guess.

I never have a problem, but one thing i've noticed with M.I.K.E.'s tracks is that his drums and weak for the most part. The bass sounds tend to override the drums!

if you don't like it i'll take it
strange world (2000 remake) is one of my fav. songs

yeah his songs are hard to mix. i used to have alot of trouble with them when i was first learning how to spin.
i agree with everyones comments here.

but altho these elements may make his songs hard to mix, they make hte tracks fucking awsome.

Its all to do with the bass drum and bass combination. The kick drum isn't very punchy, its a very round sounding kick and so can become lost if a lot of things are going on at once. Eventually you will not need to use the low sounds to mix, instead, as somebody has stated try listening to the high hats, utilise the full range of the tune and everything will click into place!
