The title sez it all. I need to pick up two of these decks in black. Must be new, and from a factory-authorized dealer. All I can find is the Mk 5, and I'm really not interested in paying the extra $ for the improved anti-skate and brake adjustment. Up to a couple of weeks ago, the local Guitar Centers had tons of them for $399. Now they are nowhere to be found. Any leads?

Damn, I was going to suggest Guitar Center Are m3d's the same as mk3's ? I'd just search around online, places like pssl.com.

For the most part, the model that is made for the states is the M3D model, not the MK3.. MK3 are in different regions, but not for north america. You may find MK3, but usually it means it was intended for another region other than North America. Whatever you do, make sure you do not get the other versions, because from my understanding, it most likely will not be covered by Panasonic for warranty coverege.

In the M3D version, there are a serious of online authorized dealers that sale them in the States.

I will check those places & see what I can find. Also, I've just ordered a Rane Empath from Jason DeMoe at AgiproDJ. They had the best price and great service. I'm just waiting on the mixer to arrive, and if it goes as smoothly as I'm anticipating, I will not hesitate to recommend him/his firm to anyone looking to order equipment online. I'll let you guys know how everything turns out.

Dude, M3Ds are a discontinued model and they are impossible to find, I contacted all of our distributors and our technics rep directly and all said not in stock and not available.

Sorry Dude, it looks like you only have a choice between MKII or MK5 or MK5G!

i picked up the M3Ds from guitar center a few months ago at 400 a piece. if you want them in black you need to get sl-1210m3ds (even harder to find). looking back i kinda wish i would have saved the cash and just bought the mkIIs. the only real difference is the pitch reset button which i never use anyways, i like the fact that the mkIIs click into 0 on the pitch control, on the m3ds its kinda hard to acurately get it at 0 with out using the button, other than that there is a little holder for your needles on the top (again something i never use), and the power switch in recessed so it doesnt come off as easily. mkIIs are definitly gonna be easier to find since they have been the standard DJ deck for so long. the difference is minimal, and i checked a few of my more trusted sites for DJ gear and none of then have the M3Ds. Just to make you feel a little better, the ones guitar center had were NOT brand new. they were either display models that they were clearing out when the MK5s came out, or (as in my case) they were used for a DJ competition. Mine were only used once and for me that was enough to justify buying almost new decks at a good discount. good luck finding them!!!

It's weird how the MK2 is still available but the MK3D is not. Does anyone know if that means the MK2s are still being manufactured? I wouldn't mind a brand new pair of those if that's the case. I had planned on getting a pair of MK3Ds but so much for that idea... and $550 is such a rip off for the MK5G... ugh. I think the pitch control should be +/- 16% anyway! I've been leaning towards the TTX-1 lately... I still cannot make a decision, but the only thing the TTX-1 doesn't have going for it is that it's not the 'industry standard'... other than that, it's features blow away the technics in all departments and it's a cheaper deck too!! Maybe TTX-1 is the way to go... argh decisions decisions.

Some of this information is inaccurate, as Samash carries and has the M3d version in stock. They have incorrectly labled it as the MkIII., but they are indeed M3D. They also have the 1210M3D

There is more inaccurate information still. First, if you want the M3D in black, it is still an SL1200 model and not the SL1210, Second, SL1210 M3D is a model designed for outside of United States and thus it has a dual voltage capability, 110v-120v/210v-240v with european plug and an adapter for US plugs. Pretty much everyone was selling SL1200M3D silver or black at that price. and fourth, a friend of mine picked up a pair of M3Ds from local guitar center, a pair that prev customers bought for a present for their son, but it turned out that the little shit started whining cause he wanted a pair of Numarks(cause they were much more bling bling looking), so they returned the item with only the box being opened and tables not even being taken out of the boxes, my friend paid $325.00 each for them. Heck of a deal if you ask me.

ps I don't know about anyone else, but if someone buys me a pair of technics turntables for my birthday, or any pair of tables for that fact, I'd make them work for me, even if they were belt driven.

I've got 1210s with a US plug and a European adaptor. There are different 1210s for Europe and North America. The only difference between the 1210s and 1200s are the voltage selector since they offered 1200s in Black also.

As TwiloNYC has the 1210m3d with the american adapter, i do as well.
When i purchased my second pair of Technics M3D, i replaced it with the 1210 M3D (black) special edition. It has a 110v with a 220v option,, a small screw under the platter that you change.
I purchased each 399.99 price match through Sam Ash.

That model is a 'special edition' because it comes as the 1210 euro, but is indeed intended for the UK and North America market, it even says so in the manual. There is a number for support for when calling within the US or UK.

My previous MK3D model was from Japan and the manual was japanese, but that was silver model and that was not supported by panasonic USA, i verified through their customer service.


From what i can remember, the two places i found offering the 1210m3d for US market was samash.com and musiciansfriend.com... there could have been others, but not easy to find.

Actually, all M3D models to have the pitch reset, that was one of the features added when they changed from MK2 to the M3D and MK3 series. As far as one stopping or starting faster, it can be mental, because all parts are the same inside, except for the circuit board that controls the pitch reset.
