I saw Dave Ralph w/ 2 turntables and a cdj.
Personally, a main reason I also added a cdj to my setup is that it allows you to actually add into a set a song you created on the computer and burned to cd...

I'm pretty sure that Picotto played a cd on the live at trance energy mpeg I've got, but I'm not completely sure.

Yeah they do.In fact, there's an article in this month's Club Systems magazine where DJs are talking about how they quite often will be playin CDs but have a couple of vinyls on the turntables just so it looks like they're doing something. It's not that they're "cheating"...it's just that when people don't see vinyl on the tables they think the DJs are slackin'.

Its a known fact that mauro picotto takes a cd unit everywhere he goes,it allows him to rip his new tracks to cd-r and test them out with speed and ease.Although there are rumours floating around that picotto writes the whole set to cd-r then just hits play and pretends to mix, although i beleive, its BULLSHIT.By the way,did u know u can actually talk with him at the bxr music forum?I even sent him a remix of pulsar i made and he replied with an email saying "Banging, little big banging but like!" in some of the worst english ive ever seen!

I've seen PVD use CD's once and Tiesto possibly once too but I didn't actually see Tiesto pop in the disc though, it sure wasn't vinyl though because there was no action on the tables.

When Dieselboy came to Freedom here in AZ, he had 2 cd players along with his decks. He played a very cool version of Rui Da Silva's Touch Me that was a drum 'n bass remix. It was on a CD.
Hey, whatever tools you have that works in my opinion.
A carpenter should use all the tools at his disposal to make a good house. A DJ should use all the tools at his disposal to make a good set.
