how necessary is this one ear beatmatching in a club/loud environment? I have been practicing for two months now and headphone mix seems the easiest (and only ) way for me so far, and my mixer doesn't have split mode either. I tried one ear couple of times and seemed impossible , maybe because it is not very loud at home? my concern is that do I have to learn that in the future and if so would split cueing on the headphones be a step towards using one ear...

I use 1 ear for the initial beatmatching but I always bring the main in just slightly with the phones cue fader, especially if the systems not turned up loud. Or hold the phones a little away from your ear, or half off. But if the systems loud enough then full on with only the cued track in the phones works for me.
