Oakenfol opened with a Prodigy track wednesday night!
well, it was more of an intro- he didn't play the whole song, only about the first minute and a half of it. the song was from 'fat of the land' but i can't remember the name of it. i'll find out later if anyone's interested. I just didn't expect that from oaky. after the intro, though, the song that he really opened up with (Lost it.com - animal) was the same song he opened his set @ ultra in miami with. but after that, his set wednesday night was much different than in miami. it was very nice. other tracks i noticed were: amoeba assassin - piledriver (grayed out mix), schiller - das glockenspiel- or however you spell it (humate mix), depeche mode - i feel loved (danny t mix)- not one of my favs, and some others i can't remember. different from what i expected from oaky, but good
Hey there
Sure,I'd love to hear that intro just post the sample and I'll id for u cuzz I've heard 'The Fat' a hundred times and I suppose that I won't have any problem identifying either the names or whatever.
Are u a fan of the Prodigy too?
P.S. (my 100th post )
Peace out.

I used to be a fan back in the times of 'the prodigy experience' and 'music for the jilted generation' but when 'fat of the land' came out, their music was way too hard and too commercial. but don't get me wrong, fat of the land has some good tracks like the one i described. and i'll get back to you on that. i don't have a sample ready but i'll be able to figure it out. i have the album but can't locate it at the moment.
The prodigy had never been commercial...period.
And ya climbatize is a fuckin classic tune man, very trippy.
And so is Narayan these are the tune that show what kinda music u can come up with using nowadays equipment and ofcourse the mind itself Liam Howlett.
Peace out.

prodigy helped me progress to trance, i went through the firestarter faze, but shame they went so soon. They were on a tomb raider thng the other nite, sayin it took them ages to produce there album, coz they were playin tomb raider on the playstation all the time.
That is proper dedicated artists

when i said that it was commercial, i was referring to 'firestarter' and 'Breathe' really. i was also referring to the fact that the album 'fat of the land' was a top seller in music stores when it first came out. and i agree- narayon and mind fields are two more great tracks from that album. i also like 'their law', 'poison', 'smack my bitch up', 'claustrophobic sting', 'skylined' and more.
I've saw him twice and both times he started off w/ animal...there was a thread we had going a while back and there were like 4 or 5 other people in different cities who also said he started w/ animal. It's definately sweet track, but if I were a dj I wouldn't start w/ the same track every time...what's everyone elses input on this?

I agree with that...
Oakie plays Jan Johnson's Flesh and Animal way too much...
Especially opening with Animal everytime...that just makes every set sound the same...
Oakie used to be god to me...
But I really have grown to not like him very much. He used to be that mythical DJ that when you start listening to dance music just changed your whole life because you thought, man...how could someone do the stuff he does...get the music he does...and still have fun...
He's greedy now...as I understand...he's going way too commercial. All he's interested is the money.
I've gained more respect for other DJ's (PVD, Sasha, Danny Tenaglia, Lawler, AVB, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, etc.)
I know this might seem outlandish...but I know no one's heard from Sasha recently...all I have to say is lookout.

well it a shame that his sets have to suffer due to his popularity. He must have a very small amount of spare time, and he is doin pritty good i think.
How he manages to fit it all in is amazing, and he has to find new up comming songs, and remix stuff.
So give him some credit, but for all that money he should b doin better.

Oh he definitely gets credit...
But for all this old stuff he's playing he could've moved on...heck...Digweed's gone commercial with KISS100FM...yet he plays some bangin' new tracks.
