ok...i really hope that he was just having an off night...cause seriously...he was not good at ALL
ok...he came on around 11:30 and played a few proggy tunes and whatever...i just figured he was building up his set...then he played street carnival or festival or whatever it is...such an awesome song...it was all downhill from there...
he then proceded to unleash the worst mixing/flow/track selection I've ever seen at avalon thus far. I can remember maybe 4 or 5 tracks where the drop made me move from my spot on the dance floor...
around 1:30 he was building towards something nice...he played a few nice tracks in a row...then he went to this song which was in a 6/4 time signature which was awesome...BUT THEN HE BLEW IT...he played some shitty ass proggy song which blew chunks...and then he followed it up with some song that sounded like somebody shat all over a synthisizer...
overall...very poor performance from mauro...i guess we shoulda guessed the night was gonna suck when he shot down both back to cali and komodo...we tried to request these tracks...but he simply said "no, too old!!" in his crazy italian accent...whatever...i was really dissapointed by mauro...i hope he was just having an off night...

I rememeber being so excited the first time Picotto came to Arc. I think we had some huge TA meetup. Everyone got to Arc really early, and it ended up being one of the worst most boring nights ever. Alot of us even gave him a second chance when he came back a second time, and once again he really sucked. I don't think he had an off night. I think he just plays a funky style of tech that only he enjoys.

I definately agree

I think Mauro played a pretty cool set. I had lots of fun even though he didn't play some of the tracks I expected him to play. It got really boring when he started dropping Prog songs, but it was a great night.
And fuck, on the way back home I got a speeding ticket, going 65 in a 50, for $150??
And it says "speeding assessments include a $50 surcharge for the head injury trust fund", and he crossed out the $25 and put a 50 underneath, I'm so pissed. Can he do that???

Don't get me wrong I had a good time...but its hard to dance when your not feeling the music. For some reason the crowd really seemed to be into it I guess if your fucked up enough some of those really annoying build-ups and sounds actually sound better??? I duno...

ah fuk... this sucks.. i'm in toronto and going to see him @ kool haus with sven vath.. i don't even like him to begin with and now people are saying he's been sucking? oh great. LOL!
let's not even talk about his baffoon-of-a-personality.. my front door is smarter than he is and my cat less bitchy.
Jesus, I'm glad I didn't go. I was going to be @ avalon from 10pm-2am and then have a recording session from 2am-6am @ school, but decided to skip picotto and save the (how much was it?)... glad it sucked and I didn't miss out on anything.

i dont claim to be an expert but picotto is one of the few djs ive really follwed recently...i was intro to him w/ old tracks i picked up in italy he did like proximus medley, komodo, and verdi... all on 2000-2001 compilations--I loved that stuff and couldnt wait to hear him live---i went to 3 of his last 4 sets at arc and the only one that was memerable was the first--his second was pretty good too,but i think i really got into it because i had just come back from europe. If im not mistaken he has a HUGE following in the UK. people love him there in fact he wasnt really pullng big crowds in italy in past yrs so he turned to the Uk..and from there started the N.american leg of his tour. I think his style has changed, unfort for the worst. In his quest for reinventing himself he lost his following. The next time picotto comes to nyc ill prob go, but im almost afraid it will be disapointing. its too bad i think he has some crazy techno skills but he keeps claiming "im not a techno dj!" soooo...he tries a new style. u live and learn i guess
