My kung fu trainer is fairly known dj teebee.. I listened more to it before than now. Dillinja, goldie, photek and many more were my favorites..

Thanks for the complement on an earlier thread. Didn't get a chance to reply to it...

I was into D&B in 1996-97. Then I got bored. It suffers the same problem Detroit Techno does: Define a genre by its limitations (keeping it 'true' or 'real'), and it doesn't have much room to evolve or grow. Just like a fish only grows as large as the bowl its in.

Goldie, Grooverider, Photek, LTJ Bukem, and Roni Size were some of the guys I used to listen to.

I was really into Goldie's stuff, especially his first album...

Be Cool!

I, for one, like it.
In fact, I embrace all forms of electronica, except for NRG/Gabber/Happy Hardcore.

From
Drum 'n Bass
to
Trip Hop

From
Hard House
to
Deep Trance.

However, just talking about Drum N Bass, I'd save my favorites are:
- LTJ Bukem: Atmospheric DNB, imagine driving across the country listening to his stuff...
- Photek: Laid Back DNB, Good stuff, especially the form & function CD...
- Dieselboy: Deep Evil DNB, For those times when punching through walls and killing fluffy little bunnies isn't enough...

...

what? you didn't like my fluffy little bunnies analogy?

**This is funny that you mention it. I was spinning Drum and Bass until a couple of months ago when I switched to Trance (bigger market over here for it). The artists aforementioned (LTJ, Photek) really aren't considered 'hardcore' Drum and Bass to that crowd (FYI), the new 'thing' is Hardware label artists, such as Usual Suspects, Absolute Zero, and the Armageddon CD compilations. Dieselboy is popular stuff as well.

There is a whole sub-division of Drum and Bass that enjoys a newer-style (that I don't really care for), I'm sure you've heard it, where the 'rapper' raps over the spinning, much like how AK1200 pioneered. The only problem is you have these guys yelling over the music the entire time, freestyling, and its horrible! Everyone has their own tastes, and Ckerr812 is correct, that Drum and Bass just sounds like sped-up hip-hop. Good day.**
