new big tunes coming up on Bonzai and Scanner
well, seems like Bonzai is going to release (or already released) quite a few impressive tracks.. but no-one ever talks about them here, dunno why. they had samples in their website of the new tunes, and i tried to make a short review of them: (don't take it too serious, you can't judge much by 16kbps samples )
Attack - Panik:
suposedly a super-innovative track, for its 3/3 beat instead of 4/4. humm, i must not be paying enough atention, but it just sounds like a regular Bodyshock tune to me. nothing too amazing, but not bad either. 7/10
Azior - Sunset at Myvatn (Subsphere Remix):
well, it seems to be the only of this pack that got a lot of people interested around here. and for a good reason, what an excellent progressive trance track! dark and atmospheric just how we like it, this is brilliant. 9.5/10
Composer - Deep Morning:
Kinda relaxed progressive trance with a slight oriental feeling. Solid but not groundbreaking. 8/10
FNDA - I Want To See Angels:
First impression is, wtf is this. Then you realise this is quality techno with very nice strings. Kinda weird and hard but good, the underground feel is mint. 8.5/10
Moontribe - Ride:
Pretty good progressive trance track. If only there was a bit less of those sirens, cause it gets quite annoying. 7.5/10
Nova - Dead:
Laurent Veronnez and his darker face brings us another top atmospheric tunage. One of the good ones. 8.5/10
Nu Breed - Depth:
The more proggy of them all, this one should get the attention of those who usually think bonzai is a bit too trancy for them. And what a quality track. 9/10
Reminiscence - Wherever You Are:
It's a damn amazing track, and one of my favourites. everything is almost perfect on here, from the deep bassline, the FX's, the melodies and the more subtile stuff in the track structure. This is one of the finest examples of 'progressive trance' in a while. 9.5/10
The Wideband Network - Orbit (Airwave Remix):
Not bad at all until the breakdown and the vocals come in. They're not too bad but not too god either - too much of a rock feel. Not exactly my cup of tea. 7.5/10
Unit Response - Unit Response:
the most trancy of them all, and quite a good one. original enough, and some ace melodies. definitely quality. 9/10
Scanner Recordings is also going to release a couple great tunes, they have a collaboration between Haak and Mark Dedross in Maharishi - Steel Breeze and a techno track under the Futuro name, supposedly by M.I.K.E. There was another one announced there that didn't have a sample, forgot exactly what it was, new Liquid Overdose, Return of the Native or something.
Maharishi - Steel Breeze:
uhm, first of all this is not the typical track you would expect to hear on scanner - it's somewhere around that halfway between progressive and uplifting trance, with a dark feel. the melodies remind me a lot of Digital Blonde's stuff, and the FX's are great. fucking excellent. 9.5/10
Futuro - (Untitled):
more like scanner's usual stuff. it's a repetitive techno loop with a couple of trancy/electro influences that builds up to a massive strings break. similar in style to that FNDA tune, techno fans will love this one. 8.5/10
