Blackhole Recordings closes mp3 website

The page http://tptp.cjb.net/ where we could download (the first?) vinyl rip of Urban Train has recieved an email, threatening with legal actions if mp3 is not removed, from Blackhole Recordings. I was just corious, isn't Blackhole Tiesto's own label? The the following occured to me:

From the interview with DJ Tiesto, http://www.trance.nu/

"Question: What do you think of the about audioformat MP3?

I really like it, because specially in The States and also here in Sweden it's been good for my name because my CDs are hard to get here.

Question: What do you think when people download your songs illegaly. Is it bad because you loose royaltymoney.

Well, I'm not in there for the money. I'm really glad, actually honored, that people download my music. That's a compliment I think."

so it all made me quite confused... any ideas?

I remember reading an interview very much like that one...might be the same one...like a while ago, a year or so. So I dont know much about his comments regarding the recent Blackhole issues.

I dont think any of this is tiesto's fault..just the record label execs trying to further line their pockets. Their greed will only hurt future sells since not many people blindly buy things they have never heard before

you have to remember that Black Hole is a small company. it's not a Universal or a BMG. They are cool with people spreading livesets, and that's all you need to get turned on to a dj. it's not about greed. these guys need this money to keep the company running and growing.

we had a thread like this a few weeks ago.
and someone said that the reason blackhole has started acting like assholes is because it was actually bought from tiesto recently.

i don't remember the name of the guy. i also don't know if it was true or not. but this very well could explain things.

i don't think tiesto, who gets paid very well for live sets, would personally care about mp3s being up.

trance.nu has an interview with DJ Tiesto clearly expressing that he has no problem with distribution of his music (in mp3 format) circulating the net. It looks like Tiesto no longer has control over his own music and his label doesn't give a sh=t about what he has to say, as long as he is filling their back pockets with $$$$$$$$$4

Food for thought

DJ Tiesto was a few weeks ago the owner of BHR.( he may still be the owner)
however it is possible he has sold the control of the company.

If he had sold BHR outright i dont belive he would also have sold the copyrights of his material with the company
as BHR still own copyrights to Tiesto material i would guess that he still has a share of the company, but not a controling share.
Now that the money men have control the policy on MP3 has been brought in.

if this is the case then Tiesto himself would be blameless and not a hypocrite for going against what he said about liking MP3.

this of course needs further research but as others and i have said in the other BHR threads
with out MP3 a lot of ppl would not have bought BHR vinyls and CD's.

Exclamation

Thats's wot i mean, BHR, can kiss my arse, theve made a fortune of me, and without MP3, they would be bankrupt, the same goes for Tsunami which i love, but how else are u gonna ditribute the godsend that is TRANCE, tell people its good. Bollocks. There scared of the bootlegers who are burning Vinyl from MP3's which is harming their profits. Try then buy, that's my motto!!!

well, isn't it obvious? it's the talent-pimpin' label that doesn't want mp3s.
