vocals

I was just wondering what kind of vocals the TOTA's life if any. State what kind of vocals you like w/ examples.

I personally don't like vocals for the most part.

I prefer vocals that are non-sensical-- the voice as an instrument rather than a conveyer of meaning (via lyrics).I fidn a lot of vocals cheesy (for example i don't like 'beautiful things' or 'as teh rush comes')

I also like some vocals that are of the 'pretty' variety, which most ppl who like vocals seem to like.

examples of non-sensical that i like:

laya and bushwacka- It's up to you (thanks to eric for helping me find this track_
dino lenny- I feel stereo

examples of pretty that I like:

schiller- ruhe (humante mix)
obital- halcyon on and on

I hate vocals.. personally.. well 99% of them. Why? I find the human voice is flawed.

oakey's southern sun is a completely different story however. That woman's voice is flawless..

Avril Lavigne - I'm with you (Leama & moor dub)

pretty tracks (with vocals)
Marco V - I Feel you
Boss@Nova - Stone Cold

Me i like vocals, but some of it being played too much becomes cheesey.

Right now i like vocals tracks:

dj_tiesto-in_my_memory_(v-one_remix)
dj_tiesto-urban_train_(original_mix)

you mean the humate mix of ruhe (head for their mix of das glockenspiel....much better)

I hate bad vocals

raging was awful
venus was awful
(two songs that should not be played)

I tend to head for the better vocals

Conjure One feat. Sinead O'Conner - Tears From The Moon (HYBRID MIX)
-see this captures the vocal with the energy with the backing track and turns it into the monster (the other mixes don't do this)

Subsola - So Pure (FFrr) (1998)
-A proper dancefloor stormer and almost 6 years later is still played by some deejays. At it's height, it was a powerful vocal trancer with a powerful chorus (see pete tong and paul oakenfold - live cream 6th B-day....for what a crowd rocker it is)

Chicane - Saltwater was a good vocal
Banco De Gaia - Obsidian (PFN vs. the light mix) (vocal made no sense but sounded nice)
Mono Culture - Free (Old Sasha Fave, still works...)

Highland - No Way Out (re-released but still a proper dancefloor destroyer, oakenfold fave but I heard sander k play this out live and it took apart the place)

Cass and Slide - Perception (Vocal Mix)
-normally adding vocals kills the song (don't believe me check out the horrible addition to riva - stringer and what a mess that was). Add Naimee Coleman, add a vocal to an already strong track and you have a masterpiece.

Utah Saints - Lost Vagueness (Lieb Main Mix 2)
-vocal kicks in then the riff backs it....amazing

and my all time fave

Olive - Your Not Alone (Oakenfold and Osbourne 12" mix)
-haunting at best and when that riff kicks in....heaven!

Odd.. I can't stand Southern Sun.

I like the added touch of vocals in tracks like:

Blue Planet Corporation - Digital Forward
VDM - No Hesitation

...many times a good track is tainted with brutal lyrics - a track can be epic without having cheesy vocals saying retarded things.

However, in the case of the G&D tracks - the vocals are what makes them stand out from the rest (cheese or not). Just like IIO - Rapture, without the lyrics the popularity just wouldn't have been there.

shit forgot two others

atlantis vs. avatar - fiji (just says fiji but I like the vocal part with beat)

Delerium feat. Sarah Mclachlan - Silence

ditch the ISO$$$ mix and head for the fade's sanctuary mix.

since we are in vocals here

Plump DJ's feat Gary Numan - Pray For You (lee coombs vocal mix)

-usually a vocal like this, pisses you off but the way the plump's made the original and the vocal mix was done. It works almost too well.

and for the techno people

Slam - Lifetimes
-just a haunting vocal with a great backing beat

and the fuck did i forget this one

Lustral - Everytime

-a true vocal stormer

You like deepness go with the nalin and kane mix
the chillout - WoW mix
or chillout - mike koglin
